  3. The next thing that you really need to do is to ask yourself why I want to change what I am putting into my body, and most of us will answer this question with to be healthier. Many people choose this type of lifestyle because of their love for animals, so both of these are very popular reasons people choose this type of meal plan.
  4. What you want to focus on are plant-based food groups, but if you are like me and are not able to eat grains this makes this change much more challenging.
  5. For many of us easing into the vegan diet is our best strategy, I have tried many times to change completely overnight and every time I have failed. So if you are a breakfast person start by adding a plant-based breakfast to get started, and for those of you who don’t do this meal start with your first meal of the day to be totally plant-based.
  6. Once you are able to make your first meal without any cravings, you will then want to add the second meal of your day to be plant-based as well.
  7. You will also want to start eating snacks as well that are within your new diet plan, so the key is to ease gradually into a special diet whenever it is possible to avoid super cravings. With my change that was not possible and the reason was that my allergy and intolerance foods were making me extremely sick.
  8. Whenever you are ready you can eliminate all animal products completely, but I have never been able to do this myself. My diet consists of mainly some vegetables and fruits, and as animal products go I am forced to go with grass-fed meats.
  9. If you do like me happen to fall off the wagon and give in to non-vegan, you really need to just get back on track and not give in completely as I always do.

  • All the fruit food groups are on your list as well, and again as long as you have no allergies or intolerances to any of them.
  • Oils you want to be sure to stick with plant-based, and I use olive oil which is a healthy fat.
  • To improve your meals you will want to start experimenting with herbs and spices, and both of these are very healthy for you.

This crisis we are living in is not just in the United States, and I have added prayers on my own prayer list for every person in the world. I strongly believe every person in every country is a child of God, and we must realize there are good people and bad people in every country including the United States. So let us pray for everyone in the world to survive the COVID-19 crisis, we have already lost way too many lives to this terrible virus.

Now for those of you who are not comfortable praying for others, I am sharing some guidance to get you started. Once you form this habit it will become natural for you, but the most difficult part for most people is how to get started?

  • The first step is to open your heart with sincerity for everyone in the world, and you must not think of people in other countries in a negative manner. Forget that they might look different than you, but accept all people wish for the same things in their lives.
  • Secondly, you must make this a regular part of your praying routine, we are people of habits. So as you form this new habit, you will find this will become natural with time and patience.
  • We all need to have faith in the words in our prayers, so allow your heart to speak to God through your prayers.
  • Sincerely provide love to everyone in the world and even those who might do you wrong. Forgiveness might be very difficult for most of us, but this is something we must do to be able to love the world.

Like many of you, I once was not one who believed in the power of praying, and what it took for me to open my eyes and heart was when I woke up one day with autoimmune disease. Even after I became so ill I had to give up my career, I still fought the idea of adding prayers into my life. Like many people, I also did not start to form a relationship with God until I was desperate for a miracle in my life. Now, this is a part of my daily routine, and on my worse days, I might speak with him several times asking him for strength and wisdom. I must admit I am in no way a religious person by any means, you will find me rarely attend any church services most Sundays. So I did give going to services a try for about a year, and I tried almost every one of them in my town in Pennsylvania. The Ten Commandments

All you need to do is start talking to God, so making time for him is the key to getting started. You don’t even have to read the bible, but I do recommend you read the ten commandments and start doing your best to follow them. When you do slip up as we all do, you will not be punished just admit to God you messed up and you will be forgiven. Even the most dedicated Christians lose their temper at times, and we all say things that we don’t really mean when anxiety and stress get the best of us. So learning the ten commandments and doing your best to follow them is a very good way to get started, and make the time to talk to him regularly about what is on your mind and in your heart is easier than you might think right now?

  1. “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.
  2. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My Commandments.
  3. “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
  4. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it, you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

As you read the ten commandments you will notice that they are commonsense, and the majority of people do try to be a good person and naturally want to follow these in their daily lives. So just making it a point to try to follow these more than you are doing now is a good start, and when you sin all you have to do is admit it to God and you will be forgiven. Prayers For Children With COVID

The first prayers I want to share with you is for the children, and many of you might be misled thinking your children are immune to this virus. There are kids who have weak immune systems today, so they are at high-risk to become infected and even could lose their lives. So open your heart as you read these, and help God heal our children who are ill. Parents and grandparents are in need of your prayers for COVID 19 patients, and I urge you to provide them the power of prayer with an open heart.

You know right now things feel scary.
We are worried, and my child does not feel well.
But even now, we know we are not alone.
Love surrounds us like warm blankets.
Hope is still there, even when we can’t always see it.
Everywhere we look, there are doctors and nurses and helpers.
May our hearts be filled with peace instead of worry,
Hope instead of fear,
Thankfulness for all of the helpers, instead of loneliness.
May we hold tight to each other,
believing that even when it is hard and painful, it will get better.

I know for a fact my niece who was in 10th grade last year was passed to 11th grade this year, but what concerns me is she actually missed out on an entire year of school due to this pandemic we are living in right now.   • If you notice they are struggling to concentrate and stay focused on their studies or even things they used to enjoy doing it is time to get them to a professional.
  • Anyone of any age who starts to talk about death is possibly going to become suicidal if they don’t get treatment. so this I would say is really the most serious symptom you want to take seriously and seek treatment immediately.

In my own opinion, these are the most severe warning signs for parents and grandparents to watch out for. But if your child is experiencing more than a few of the symptoms on the main list in this article I also would advise you to seek professional guidance.

The part of Pennsylvania I live in has been very lucky when it comes to this virus, and even though the schools have been closed the children in my neighborhood seem to be doing just fine. The majority of the kids are playing outdoors most days, and even though I don’t agree with their parents the children seem to be happy and doing very well. The virus is becoming more severe where I live as well, but still, the children are out playing like there is nothing wrong. What bothers me, even more, is every time I go to the store for groceries there are people not wearing masks. Even if they don’t feel the masks do any good, I feel they still should wear them to protect the rest of us who are wearing masks as a safety precaution. As everyone knows wearing masks is a very serious issue right now in our country, but I don’t see what harm it does to wear a mask when you go out in public? We just don’t know enough about this to know if they do or don’t make any difference, but I would think parents and grandparents would at least be wearing masks on their children?

Jesus, during Your ministry on Earth You showed Your power and caring by healing people of all ages and stations of life from physical, mental, and spiritual ailments. Be present now to people who need Your loving touch because of COVID-19. May they feel Your power of healing through the care of doctors and nurses.

Take away the fear, anxiety, and feelings of isolation from people receiving treatment or under quarantine. Give them a sense of purpose in pursuing health and protecting others from exposure to the disease. Protect their families and friends and bring peace to all who love them.

Natural Alternatives For Mild Depression

I am one of those people who have had a very negative experience with prescription medications, so I prefer to give natural alternatives a try before giving in to medication. I have been able to manage my mild depression naturally, but some of us might need more than this type of treatment, So what I recommend is you consult with your physician, and just ask him or her what they recommend.

I use St John Wort as needed for when I feel I need something for depression, but I don’t take this every day. You will want to avoid Chamomile if you have an allergy to ragweed, I tried this once, and I had an asthma attack so be very careful taking it. I would like to begin this article by providing you some organizations that you can receive assistance for seniors, and I feel if you know these exist you can spread the word to your family and friends. If our government would provide more funds to these more of you could be living a better quality of life, so anyway here are some resources you might find useful.

  • American Society of Aging is highly recommended for people in their senior years and their caregivers, so this is the first place I am recommending you consider for assistance.
  • Leadership Council on Aging is the second resource I suggest you consider, you will find this to be one of your best resources to keep handy in case you ever need it.
  • National Association of Area Agencies on Aging is where you want to go for programs in your own community, and they are able to assist seniors within their local area what is available.
  • Senior Living is able to assist you in finding the best housing and care for you in your golden years, you will not only find a source of resources, but you also will find a good source of valuable tools on their website.

The organizations above are the first places I would go myself to get help for my own mother, so I hope the resources I have shared with you can assist you. Many of the senior citizens in my community are not living the golden years, and actually, the majority of them are struggling to make ends meet month after month. Pensions are very low if they even have a pension of any kind, and the majority of them are depending on their social security just to get by. I have heard President Trump many times say he wants to get rid of social security, and if he would be re-elected and did this what is going to happen to all these people?

  • It is a fact that the average social security benefit is not enough for people to retire today, and I know many of these people who were working part-time at fast-food restaurants and Walmart just to pay for their medications. But many of you might be mistaken by our government giving you the impression everything is provided for you, and the majority of people also must pay for a supplement health insurance.
  • Many of you might not be aware there are taxes on this type of government income, and I ask you how fair is this to the senior citizens?
  • Thankful the majority of these people just need to claim their income on their income taxes, and the reason is the majority of the blue-collar workers when they retire are not receiving enough social security to be able to pay taxes on their income.
  • The law in the year of 2019 stated an individual receiving this type of income is only allowed to earn an additional $771.00, but really how many of them are healthy enough to work in their golden years?

I just wanted for my mother’s situation to clear this up, so don’t believe the politician’s when they say you don’t pay anything for your medical expenses when on social security. My mother has co-payments on all her medications, and also every medical appointment she has to pay a co-payment as well. The worse part is these are the times in our lives when we have the most health problems, and also how many seniors do you know that does not require any prescription medications?

The majority of the people in my community are senior citizens, and many are struggling with depression over not being able to spend time with their families. With the holidays coming this will be the worse holiday season for many of them, and to make things worse many women like my mother lives alone. So how can my mother and others like her cope during this terrible time, and below I have shared what I could find out for you.

  • The older you are in age the higher your risks are when it comes to COVID, and one of the main reasons for this is your immune system often becomes weaker as you age.
  • Many people older than 50 years old has chronic health issues, so they also are at a higher risk despite they are not in their senior years.
  • Children with health issues are at higher risk as well, so your health status is the main high-risk factor.
  • 8 out of every 10 deaths from this virus on an average are people over 65 years of age, so these people must be more careful than the younger members of their families.

Now you should understand better why our seniors are high-risk during the COVID 19, but how can they reduce their risks is what we are going to discuss next?

How To Reduce Your Risks

Anyone of any age actually needs to be extra careful, so even those of you with autoimmune diseases should be reading this?

  • President Trump is misleading the people in so many ways about the COVID, and people who wear a mask are not more of a risk to get infected as he has been saying. Everyone should be wearing a mask, and if more of us did we would not have nearly as many deaths from this virus.
  • When you must go out try to stay at least 6 feet from other people, and also you should avoid going out only when you have no other choice such as medical appointments and grocery shopping.
  • This is very important for everyone to do no matter your age, and anyone who starts to feel unhealthy should seek professional medical treatment right away.
  • The sooner you have been treated the better your chances of surviving, so the longer you wait the higher your risk of having complications.
  • Washing your hands frequently and using hand sanitizer is highly recommended, and this is even more important for those of you over 65 years old or with health problems.

I am sure you all are tired of hearing these basic ways of how to reduce your risks, but sadly not nearly enough people are following them and that is the main reason we are in this situation for the holidays.

  • Monopoly was my favorite board game growing up, and this game can keep you busy for hours and hours playing.

  • You could also consider Scrabble with your partner, so this is another good one that comes to my mind.

As much as the White House and the President had lied to the people, I just can’t accept that God is in our government today. We do need to all pray for America and do whatever we can do to bring God back into our country once again. Today I have some prayers you can use to pray for America, so open up your heart and add our entire country into your prayers.

Lord, humble me. Help me to see that I’m not always right and the world doesn’t revolve around me. Allow me to do what needs to be done to rid myself of my pride so with a contrite heart I can seek your face.


Lord, strip me of my rebellion. Replace my rebellious heart with one that yields to your way of life in surrender.


Lord, help me to see the issues around me in my community. Help me to be the person who goes out of my way to meet them.


Lord, my heart has gotten hardened. I haven’t wanted to love people the way you love them. I’ve only loved those that think and act the way I do. Help me love people the way you love them. Help me to love enough I’d be willing to lay down my life for them.

  • Do you know anyone in your community with an infant, you could send them or leave a case of baby formula for them. You can ask one of their neighbors or family members what brand of formula the baby needs, and you can even order this online and send it to them without leaving your name.
  • What about ordering a baby gift basket from Amazon or even Walmart, you can then have it delivered directly to the person’s home. People are in need of food, but when you provide their other needs you are helping them have more money for their baby?
  • Another priceless gesture for parents with a newborn baby would be diapers, I can remember how many diapers my sons went through so this would save them so much money for other things their baby might need.
  • If you are able to donate to the local Food Bank this is an easy way to help so many people in your community, I know for a fact there are so many people just where I live going to get a monthly box of food more now then ever I have ever known of.
  • Everyone needs clothing and has to eat, so these are the two main needs of everyone. you can also send or leave a gift card for them, and then they can use it for whatever they need the most. These are one of the best choices for a family you don’t know what they really need the most, and even a small gesture would be more appreciated then you can imagine during the COVID crisis we are in right now.

Everyone can give in their own way, so I am giving by writing my articles on this website. I donate what little I am able to afford when I can to organizations I strongly believe in, so you can be a big part of making a difference in a person or a family’s life. Why does the majority of us only practice giving mainly on Christmas and special holidays, and why is this not a part of our daily lives? The bible is one of the biggest motivators in my life, and I am not a religious person by any means. I don’t belong to any special church in my community, but going to church does not make you better than someone who does not. Action speaks more than anything else, so can you live with yourself knowing you are well off financially and not doing anything to help the less fortunate in your community? How do you sleep at night, and what about your health? The people who were the most giving in their lives have lived the best lives, and when you do for others it just might be the best medicine for what ails you?

Proverbs 11:25: “The generous person will prosper, and whoever refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”. Meaning: Giving benefits not only the recipient but also the giver. Proverbs 19:17: “The one showing favor to the lowly is lending to Jehovah, and He will repay him for what he does.”.

Proverbs 11:24 states “One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.” It is righteous to practice generosity with our family, friends, and community as scripture inspires.

Many people think by attending church regularly and offering 10% of their income to their church they are going to heaven, but God knows your true heart and when you are doing things just to make points with him that is not going to make him happy. There are ways to get to heaven without having money in the bank, so listen to your heart and you will be hearing what God has planned for you to do with your life. I have experienced when I do for others, I am much happier than when I do something for myself. So in my opinion the best medicine is not man-made, but simply by doing something nice for someone else without expecting anything in return.

You know people with special needs such as a special diet plan is very difficult to find assistance, and this is an important issue for so many families with a child with food allergies and food intolerances. There are children and families who have no idea where their next meal is coming from, and yet the people in the USA are throwing away food regularly.   • You should freeze your leftovers within 3 days, but I will freeze mine as soon as possible when I know I will not be using them right away.

  • Never refreeze more than one time, and the way I am sure to not waste any food is to freeze them in small individual portions.
  • Labeling is something I have learned to be very valuable for me, I often prepare a full slow cooker of my favorite soup, and then freeze it. Simply by using masking tape and a waterproof marker, you can label as you freeze your leftovers, and this works great for gluten free turkey soup recipes.
  • I prefer freezer bags myself, but you also can use containers. Being a single person this allows me to store more, and every time I cook I prepare a super big batch.

So this is where the elimination diet test comes in handy, you can find out if any of these might be triggers for your own symptoms.

  • Fruit salads are one of my favorite ways to eat a variety of this food group, and another easy way is to add them to your gluten-free oatmeal or cereal. These are easy to eat on the go and make great healthy snacks, and as long as you read the labels you know they are a good choice.
  • You also are able to freeze your favorite fruit when in season, so you can’t go wrong with adding this to your basic diet plan.
  • Even most people with autoimmune disease are able to eat fruit, but some people might need to watch out for citrus. Some folks experience problems with the acid, so this is just something to consider when eating your favorite fruit.

  • In a large bowl combine turkey, onion, carrots, ketchup, whisked egg, almond flour, coconut aminos, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasonings. Mix by hand until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  • Line a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper. Fill the loaf pan with a meatloaf mixture.
  • For the Meatloaf Glaze:
  • Combine all glaze ingredients in a medium bowl and whisk to combine.
  • Pour glaze evenly over meatloaf.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 75-90 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165-170 degrees.  (You can check this by using a meat thermometer.)

Let meatloaf sit for 15 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

  • If things are extremely tough this year consider family exchanges for Christmas, and remember it is not the gift that is what is important but the idea you are doing something for someone you love and care about.
  • Organizing can make such a difference when it comes to stress, so planning out what you need to do is another important tip from the Mayo Clinic. I like to do a little each day when preparing for a big project, I find this keeps me busy without overwhelming me so maybe this is something you could try?
  • The most difficult word for mothers and grandmothers to tell their family is NO, but even you have your limits and must do what is best for you to stay calm and enjoy the holidays as well.
  • Many people neglect taking care of themselves as well, but this is a time when you need to take even better care of yourself with so much to do.

  • Gluten-free turkey is our first main concern on this special day, and the turkey itself is safe for you to eat. Wheat starch is added to the broth as a thickener, but this will cause you a flare-up if you are living with Celiac Disease or even a wheat allergy. Since what I eat is the trigger for the majority of my symptoms, I wanted to share what I have learned from my resources over the years. You know as well as I know they keep changing the facts on everything that involves our immune system, but here is what I have learned over the years.

  • Prevention magazine wrote an article on this topic by Jessica Brown in 2018, and one of the facts she shares is that allergies to what we eat are more common. What I have found out over the years is if tests don’t confirm something doctors don’t accept you have the problem, but I told my doctors most of my life about my own issues, and they told me the same thing. So when I became in my mid-thirties my symptoms became more severe, and even today the tests don’t confirm my food intolerances and allergies.
  • Naba Sharif, MD is an allergist who claims even though our allergies to what we eat are more common, there still are only about 4% of adults with this problem. I would say these stats are going by allergy tests, and I know for a fact these tests are not always accurate from my own experience. So are these statistics really accurate, what do you think about this?
  • According to this article, 30% of us are imagining this, and the reason medical professionals claim this is no tests proved it. It also goes on to say that just because we eat something and then get sick we presume we have an intolerance, so are our doctors being fair to accuse so many people of imagining certain stuff they eat makes them sick?

This might be the most important of all the tips to celebrate Thanksgiving with food allergies I share with you, and if you noticed you have been becoming ill after this holiday meal the past few years or longer I would have to say you really should consider taking this simple test that will cost you nothing in cash. So let us begin the steps to getting started, and it is up to you if you give this a try or stay feeling sick all the time?

  1. Begin your test simply by eating natural products such as fruits and vegetables, you also can have grass-fed poultry. You see if you eat beef and they were fed grains they are gluten-contaminated, so grass-fed meats are what you want to be putting into your tummy right now.
  2. No dairy or eggs as well, and the reason for this are the hormones in them can be a trigger to making you ill.

For me, it took almost one-year for my body to heal. That is because by the time I diagnosed myself as having a problem with what I was eating my intestines were damaged, so everything I was eating at that time still made extremely sick. You might also find eating very small portions to be helpful, I found this way I was not sick as long from my bad foods.

The holidays are very difficult for me, you see I have many food allergies and sensitivities plus intolerances. So this time of the year is a challenge for me to stay healthy,  and when you are not able to eat the majority of the goodies everyone else can it is very hard. As a boy, it was even worse being tempted with all my grandmother’s home-made specials she never made any other time of the year. I am totally intolerant of gluten and dairy products, so you can just imagine how the aroma of the traditional foods are tempting for me.  Let us see what is available today for kids with food allergies and intolerances, and this will never be as good as the goodies we are missing, but they can make the holiday easier for the children.

  4. The first part of your plan must be how to keep social distancing and secondly, how to give out the goodies to the children?
  5. Everyone must wear masks to participate, plus the homes with high-risk people living there might not want to be involved this year. So you need a system to alert everyone who is going to give out candy and who is not, and some of your neighbors might be interested in setting out their treats instead of Halloweeners coming to their door?
  6. Next, the doctor recommends everyone get a flu shot, and this is not to protect you from the COVID-19 but the regular flu is going to be around as well at this time.

Cupcakes Instead Of Giving Out Candy

Everyone knows how children go crazy for cupcakes, and you could surprise all the kids in your neighborhood with these instead of giving them candy. I just happen to have a recipe for you, so let us see what we need to get started.

What You Need

  • 1 Cup Softened Butter
  • 2 Cups of Sugar
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup of Milk
  • Zest of One Orange Finely Grated
  • 1/2 Cup of Fresh Orange Juice
  • 3  Drops of Orange Liquid Food Coloring
  • 3 Cups of Soft All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon of Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Orange Flavoring
  • Paper Baking Cupcake Cups
  • Vegetable Cooking Spray
  • Halloween Orange Frosting
  • 1/2 Cup of Whipping Cream
  • 2 Teaspoons of Orange Flavoring
  • 1 cup Butter Softened
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Salt
  • 2 16 Ounce Packages of Powdered Sugar
  • 6 Tablespoons of Fresh Orange Juice
  • 2-4 Drops of Liquid Orange Food Coloring
  • Assorted Candies
  • Sprinkles
  • Candy Sticks

Gee whiz, I never realized how many ingredients it requires for cupcakes before now, and if I add known all the ingredients it took I would have appreciated more when my grandmother made them for me as a boy.

Let’s Get To Making Cupcakes

  1. The easy part to get started heat your oven to 350 degrees
  2. You are going now to beat the butter and sugar at medium speed with your electric mixer until your mixture is creamy, now you are ready to add your eggs one at a time.
  3. Add your milk and the next 3 ingredients in a small bowl,
  4. Combine your flour, baking powder, and salt, and now you will add to your butter mixture alternately with your milk mixture.
  5. Beat at slow speed until blended after each addition, stir in your orange flavoring next.
  6. Place the paper baking cups in 2- 12 cup muffin pans and be sure to coat with the cooking spray, spoon your mixture into cups up to 2/3 full.
  7. Bake between 12-15 minutes or until a wooden toothpick comes out clean, you will allow cooling for approximately 10 minutes.
  8. Time to prepare the frosting, you will beat the first four ingredients at medium speed with your electric mixer until creamy.
  9. Gradually add your powdered sugar, beat at low speed until blended well. Beat at high speed now approximately 2 minutes or until creamy, add your juice and food coloring. Beat at low speed with an electric mixer until blended well, beat at high speed 2 minutes or until creamy.
  10. You are going to be filling each cupcake with your Halloween orange frosting, read on to learn how to do this.
  11. Insert the end of a wooden spoon in the center of the cupcake, you will now fill a zip-lock freezer bag with your filling or frosting.
  12. Snip about 1/4 of one corner of the zip-lock freezer bag, and next just fit the corner of the bag into the hole in the center of your cupcake. Squeeze very gently until filling or frosting comes to the top of the cupcake, you are ready to frost your cupcakes next.
  13. Frost each cupcake with a metal knife, and then top off with your assorted candies, sprinkles, and one of the candy sticks.

Whew, this is a lot of work for the little ghosts and goblins, and now I appreciate my grandmother’s cupcakes even more than ever after learning how much work she went through to make these for me.  Tips for supporting your child with autism during Halloween is very personal to me, you see my oldest son was born with this disorder. If you are a parent or grandparent I am sure you understand how the holidays are different for your child, so I am going to be sharing not only tips but also family resources so you can get assistance when you need it.

 Infant Autism Signs

Today one out of ever 68 children shows signs of this disorder, and if you have a son they are over 4 times the risk than girls are. My son was not diagnosed until he was already in school, but with more knowledge of the symptoms with babies and infants we can start helping our children much sooner. Our first responsibility as parents and grandparents is to understand what to watch out for, so these are some things you should be watching for in your very young child.

  • Avoiding eye contact even at this age is one of the most common signs, so paying more attention to your child’s eyes is something you need to be aware of.
  • The next thing is to notice how they react with interaction, you will find the majority of babies avoid interacting. Many will not look or listen to other people, so this is another symptom of this disorder.
  • Oddly I remember my son didn’t babble like my other sons, and at the time his physician’s just told me all babies don’t start the baby talk at the same time.

Infants are more difficult to diagnose until they become older many times, but by knowing more about what to look for can help you get them treatment earlier.

As your baby grows from their infancy stage to their toddler stage the symptoms are more obvious, you as parents and grandparents should start noticing something is different about your child around this time.

  • This was not a problem for my oldest son since he is high-functioning, but many children struggle to communicate with even their own families.
  • Repetitive behavior was very obvious with my own son as a toddler, and he often would line up objects that were not toys. He would spend hours going through the canned-goods lining them up, so often children with autism will show repetitive behaviors that are odd.
  • Hand flapping was very obvious with my own son, and from what I have learned this is very common among many children. You also might notice your child does hand waving as well, and this can be very distracting for some families.
  • You might notice the toddler rocking back and forth at times, and this is another common symptom to be on the outlook for.
  • My boy never did this one, but twirling is something some kids might do as well. So these are repetitive habits you might notice your toddler doing, and as parents and grandparents consult your baby’s physician if you notice any of these behaviors.
  • The last of these you might notice is the lack of pointing to objects, and also my son never showed interest by gesturing towards any of his toys. Actually my boy had very little interest in regular toddler activities and playthings, so this is my last symptom to share with you from my own experience with my own child.

Today physicians are able to diagnose autism earlier than when my son was a little boy, so the earlier your child is diagnosed the sooner therapeutic treatment can be applied. Beware all children don’t possess all of these signs and symptoms, and every child with autism doesn’t act the same.

As a parent, I would never recommend any medications in any of my articles, and one of the reasons is I feel this should be only used as a last resort. My son had more complications when put on medicine as a little boy, and from taking him off of them, and using the alternative therapies benefitted him so much more.   • Another method used today that was not around when my son was a boy is relaxation therapies, and again this is used by therapists for these kids regularly.

Bacon-Wrapped Pineapple Bites

What You Need

  • 1 Pound Bacon Slices
  • 20 Ounces Pineapple Chunks
  • 2 Tablespoons of Honey
  • 1/4 to 1/2 Teaspoon of Chipotle Chile Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon of Green Onion Thinly Slices and Optional

Let’s Get Started

  1. You will want to preheat your oven to 400 degrees
  2. While waiting for your oven line a sheet pan with aluminum foil
  3. Place your wire rack on the top
  4. Now cut each strip of your bacon slices in half
  5. Wrap your bacon strip around your pineapple chunk, you will want to skew in the middle of your pineapple chunk.
  6. Just repeat this process for all your chunks of pineapple

  8. Very sparingly sprinkle your chile powder next
  9. Bake for 30 minutes flipping over when the bacon is crisp on each side, garnish with the green onion if desired.

This really sounds like a fun and tasty treat for your picky eater, and the best part it is very healthy for them. Even though the recipe doesn’t suggest this, I would consider using turkey bacon for even a healthier snack.

  • Preparing your child with pictures and drawings is one way to get them ready for Halloween, you will need to prepare them for what activities are going to take place. This is really important if you are attending or having a party, and most of these kids need to ease into new things to avoid a panic attack.
  • Be sure to get them into the costume if they are dressing up before the big day arrives, you will want to be sure they are comfortable being dressed up to avoid problems.
  • For example, if your child is not comfortable with their costume or possibly wearing a mask, you never should force them. It might be best to provide them one of those eye masks instead of a face mask for some children, so these are something to consider.
  • Rehearse the trick or treat ritual by going to a family home before the big day, and grandparents are a good choice for rehearsing.

You see when I was growing up I was not encouraged to read, and in fact, I can’t remember anyone in my family ever reading to me.  To be completely honest with you, I don’t think my parents ever sat down and read a book as far as I can recall. Anyway, the point I am going to make is this experience prevented me from reading any more than I absolutely had to, and that was only for school because I had no choice in the mater.

Why Reading To Babies Is So Important

For one thing, this can become a special time for you to bond with your baby, you also will find many mothers and fathers who read to a baby learns to talk sooner. This simple activity provides calmness for the majority of infants, and some say this calms their child down even better than just rocking them. Better Homes and Gardens provided this easy recipe, and as they said they will disappear just like real ghosts by your family. Great idea for a Halloween party as well, so if you are up to making some scary and yummy ghosts let’s get started.

What You Need

  • 114.3 Ounce Package of Oreo Cookies- Substituting Brands is Optional
  • 18 Ounce Package of Cream Cheese
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 18-20 Tiny Marshmallows
  • 8 Ounces of Vanilla-Flavored Candy Coating Melted
  • 36-40 Miniature Semisweet Chocolate Pieces

Ready To Conjure Up Some Ghosts

  1. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper and set it aside
  2. In a food processor, you want to process your cookies until finely crushed.
  3. Once your cookies are finely crushed add your cream cheese and salt, and process this mixture until combined.
  4. Now you are going to shape 2 tablespoons of the mixture around one of your little marshmallows, once you do this with all your tiny marshmallows place them in a single layer about 1-2 inches apart on your cookie baking sheet.
  5. Chill them now about 1 hour or until they are firm
  6. You now will carefully pour about 1 tablespoon of the candy coating over the chilled balls one at a time, and then place two chocolate pieces in place for their little ghostly eyes.
  7. Just let your ghosts stand until they are set, and then they are ready to start disappearing

Candy Corn Is The Most Popular Halloween Candy

Candy Corn Recipe

Since candy corn is such in demand during this time of the year, I thought maybe some of you might be interested in learning how it is actually made? This recipe is provided by the Food Network, and the credit goes to a man by the name of Alton Brown.

What You Need

  • 4 1/2 Ounces of Powdered Sugar which is Approximately 1 1/2 Cups
  • 1/2 Ounce Nonfat Dry Milk, Approximately 6 1/2 Teaspoons
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 3 1/2 Ounces Granulated Suger, About a 1/2 Cup
  • 3 3/4 Ounces Light Corn Syrup, Equals to 1/3 of a Cup
  • 2 1/2 Tablespoons of Water
  • 2 Tablespoons of Unsalted Butter at Room Temperature
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 to 3 Drops Yellow and Orange Gel Paste Food Coloring

How To Make Your Candy Corn

  1. Combine your powdered sugar, dry milk, and salt in the bowl of a food processor.
  2. Pulse 4 to 5 times until the mixture is smooth. set aside for later
  3. Now you will combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water in a 2-quart pot
  4. Put over medium heat, cook, and cover for 4 minutes
  5. Next, you will add the butter, and clip on a candy thermometer
  6. Bring your mixture to the temperature of 230 degrees for about 1 to 2 minutes
  7. Now you are ready to take the mixture off of the heat, you can remove the candy thermometer as well
  8. Add the vanilla and the dry mixture at this time stirring continuously with a silicone spactula until well mixed
  9. Pour onto a half sheet pan lined with a silicone  baking mat
  10. Cool until the mixture is able to be handled which usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes
  11. Divide the dough into three equal parts, and add 2 drops of yellow food coloring to one part, and knead the dough until the color is consistent.
  12. Add 2 drops of orange food coloring to the second part or piece, and knead the dough until the color is consistent.
  13. You are going to leave the third part or piece white
  14. Roll each piece of dough to a strand about 18 inches long, and then cut each strand in half.
  15. Roll one of the white pieces about 1/2 inch thick, and about 22 inches long.
  16. Repeat this process with the yellow and the orange piece as well
  17. Lay the strands side-by-side and press them together, and then you will begin to cut them into 4 inch pieces.
  18. Lay the strands one at a time onto the silicone baking mat, and press into a wedge shape similar to a triangle shape.
  19. Use a wire butter slicer to cut the candies into pieces, you can also use a knife or a pizza cutter if you don’t have the wire butter slicer.
  20. Repeat this process with the remainder dough, lay the finished pieces on waxed  paper to dry about 1 hour.
  21. Store in a air tight container with waxed paper between each layer.

All you need is 4 struggling families in your neighborhood, and we all know no matter where you live this is not difficult to do. This organization will link you to a food pantry, and each family you recommend can shop and pack their own box of basic grocery needs. Help A Refugee

This program focuses on assisting families and individuals who are in the United States seeking safety and protection, and you are providing them assistance while they seek employment, attend schools, and begin a new life. You can participate in this if it interests you for $27.50 monthly as a shared sponsor, and if you wish to be a full sponsor you would be donating $55.00 per month. Again you will be linked to the family you are sponsoring, and you will be providing them one week of groceries.

I would never be a sponsor unless I was provided contact rights to the family I was sponsoring, and the reason why is there are too many scams today.
