Food Bank-How To Feed Your Family

Please follow and like us:

Families are in a very difficult situation right now, and many are struggling to pay their living expenses plus feed their children. So I chose this article on the food bank in hopes to help some of you, and I know many of you are feeling desperate right now. How many of you feel President Trump is doing enough for you at this time, I just feel that you should come first before anything else going on right now?

How You Can Help Families?

Maybe you are one of the lucky ones who are in the position to provide assistance to needy families, and now we as American citizens need to pull together and help each other survive. It is no secret the COVID is becoming worse as time goes on, and even President Trump and the White House have become victims of this deadly virus. So I am providing you organizations you are able to donate to, and if this is not something you are comfortable doing you can provide individual families in your community with food or a few dollars now and then.

Now is the time we must become closer than ever as a country instead of hurting one another

We as a country are dividing instead of becoming closer as it should be, so if you are in the position to help one of your families or more now is the time to do it. You can simply leave a gift basket of food on their front porch, you can even send it via mail if you feel more comfortable doing it this way. It is time we stop thinking of just ourselves, so ask yourself what can I do for my neighbor?

More Ways To Help People?

I have been putting things I really can do without on my street corner for anyone in need, and I simply made a sign stating they are Free. This is just one way I am helping the people in my own neighborhood, and I also donate food to my local food bank every month, so here are some other ways you can help families in your own neighborhood.

  • Food baskets on your neighbor’s doorsteps are one way you can help a family, and being I am on a strict diet I understand that providing a basket of special foods they can eat is a very rewarding thing you can do for your neighbor. So many of us are on gluten-free diets, diabetics, and many other special diets, so if you know anyone like this I urge you to consider doing this if you can.
  • Do you know anyone in your community with an infant, you could send them or leave a case of baby formula for them. You can ask one of their neighbors or family members what brand of formula the baby needs, and you can even order this online and send it to them without leaving your name.
  • What about ordering a baby gift basket from Amazon or even Walmart, you can then have it delivered directly to the person’s home. People are in need of food, but when you provide their other needs you are helping them have more money for their baby?
  • Another priceless gesture for parents with a newborn baby would be diapers, I can remember how many diapers my sons went through so this would save them so much money for other things their baby might need.
  • If you are able to donate to the local Food Bank this is an easy way to help so many people in your community, I know for a fact there are so many people just where I live going to get a monthly box of food more now then ever I have ever known of.
  • Everyone needs clothing and has to eat, so these are the two main needs of everyone. you can also send or leave a gift card for them, and then they can use it for whatever they need the most. These are one of the best choices for a family you don’t know what they really need the most, and even a small gesture would be more appreciated then you can imagine during the COVID crisis we are in right now.

These are just some of the ways I am helping families in my own community, and you can be sure Free Family Solutions really does put people first. This website is my way to help more families, so this is something I am very dedicated to doing every day.

If you have more than you need why not help someone in need

Feeding America

I am sure I am not the only one who never in a million years expected the United States to be in this position, so like myself, none of us were prepared for such a crisis hitting almost overnight.  Feeding America is one organization I highly recommend you visit for assistance before any other, and one of the benefits they provide you is a search box locater for the nearest Food Bank near you. Many of you might have never been in need of this service until now, so if you are having difficulty finding one near you, this is the quickest solution to your problem. Here is some very useful information directly from the Feeding America website, and I am very happy to be able to share this with you.

  • Due to the COVID over 54 million possibly may experience enough food to feed their families, and approximately 18 million of these could be children. No one deserves to go hungry in our country, and with all the wealthy people why are not more of those with money helping the less fortunate today?
  • USDA provided that from their reports more than 25 million in the United States alone struggled in 2019, and I ask you is there any reason for this to be happening in our country?
  • 14.3 million families in the USA experienced struggling to have enough food, so even before the COVID, this problem has existed in this country. So I ask you why are we not joining together to help one another, and why is our government not doing more to solve this problem?
  • This even upsets me even more, I just can’t understand how these families are not eligible for assistance from the government, so I ask you how can our government sleep at night knowing so many families are in need of assistance?

I know myself many of the programs for low-income families has been cut in budget assistance from our government, so again I ask you what kind of people are we electing to run our country that could be so heartless to ignore this problem?

Free Family Solutions Cares About You

My website is not about politics, but I am strongly feeling I need to address the problems happening to the people I am trying to help through this website. I am not a democrat or a republican, but I do live my life by my morals and values. I believe politics and religion should not be who we are as people, so follow your heart and don’t judge others by their politics and their religion. We are all people with the same needs and wants for a good life, and we need to forget about our differences and start focusing on how to solve our problems. It has nothing to do with the color of a person’s skin, and I am ashamed of how America is becoming more and more a racist country than ever before. This is not a website about selling products to my readers, but this is a website determined to focus on helping all my readers find solutions to their problems. So if you have a problem you need assistance with, I urge you to leave me a comment so I can provide you and others the solutions you are in need of. YOU ARE NEVER ALONE WHEN YOU ARE A READER OF FREE FAMILY SOLUTIONS, so I am always here for all of you.

Bible Verses About Giving

Everyone can give in their own way, so I am giving by writing my articles on this website. I donate what little I am able to afford when I can to organizations I strongly believe in, so you can be a big part of making a difference in a person or a family’s life. Why does the majority of us only practice giving mainly on Christmas and special holidays, and why is this not a part of our daily lives? The bible is one of the biggest motivators in my life, and I am not a religious person by any means. I don’t belong to any special church in my community, but going to church does not make you better than someone who does not. Action speaks more than anything else, so can you live with yourself knowing you are well off financially and not doing anything to help the less fortunate in your community? How do you sleep at night, and what about your health? The people who were the most giving in their lives have lived the best lives, and when you do for others it just might be the best medicine for what ails you?

Proverbs 11:25: “The generous person will prosper, and whoever refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”. Meaning: Giving benefits not only the recipient but also the giver. Proverbs 19:17: “The one showing favor to the lowly is lending to Jehovah, and He will repay him for what he does.”.

Proverbs 11:24 states “One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.” It is righteous to practice generosity with our family, friends, and community as scripture inspires.

Many people think by attending church regularly and offering 10% of their income to their church they are going to heaven, but God knows your true heart and when you are doing things just to make points with him that is not going to make him happy. There are ways to get to heaven without having money in the bank, so listen to your heart and you will be hearing what God has planned for you to do with your life. I have experienced when I do for others, I am much happier than when I do something for myself. So in my opinion the best medicine is not man-made, but simply by doing something nice for someone else without expecting anything in return.

Children With Special Needs

You know people with special needs such as a special diet plan is very difficult to find assistance, and this is an important issue for so many families with a child with food allergies and food intolerances. I for one am gluten and dairy-free, and even though the food banks provide you a box of food each month most of it I am not able to eat. So instead of taking the box, I leave it for someone who can use it more than me. You might not realize I am not a business person, and in fact, I might have less of an income than many of you? This website is my way of being able to share my own story with you, and plus I hope to help provide you solutions to some of your problems as well. Since I know how it is to be forced to live on a small selection of food choices, I find this problem to be very important for me to solve. We need to join together and put pressure on the government to provide assistance for our children with special diet needs, and why I ask are there no programs available to help people like you and me?

Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better

Food Bank

I am very happy that we do have people who care enough in this country to provide assistance to families, but these people who are dedicated can’t do it alone any longer. More of us need to do more to help our neighbors, you can find ways even if you are not living with a big bank account. So, please consider what I have shared with you in this article, and I pray some of you have been motivated to take that first step to put others before yourself. Volunteering is an awesome way to help in your community, but right now I understand many of you just are not able to do that with the COVID virus. Maybe you can sit down and just think of very simple ways you can help a family struggling in your own neighborhood, you know providing them a nice meal or a casserole dish is not so difficult for some of you to do. Whatever works for you is what you should do, so listen to your heart and stop thinking so much with your brain might be the best solution you will find in this article today?

Gluten Free Turkey Soup Recipes-After Thanksgiving Leftovers Ideas

Please follow and like us:

Many families are sadly wasteful in the United States, so today I am going to be writing an article with gluten free turkey soup recipes for after Thanksgiving. When I was a boy my mother would aways create some new tasty meals with our leftover turkey, and one of the easiest and healthiest meals is soups this time of the year. Another thing I like to do is add it to my salads for a change, I usually add chicken or steak so this is something new I seldom do any other time of the year.

After Thanksgiving Leftover Tips

Many people have the fear of food poisoning by eating leftover holiday meals, but with this guide, you can stay safe and yet not waste food. There are children and families who have no idea where their next meal is coming from, and yet the people in the USA are throwing away food regularly. So if fear is the reason for this, you now can learn food safety tips from this article, and let us see how we can be safe without wasting valuable food.

  • You should freeze your leftovers within 3 days, but I will freeze mine as soon as possible when I know I will not be using them right away.
  • Even though you can be sure your frozen leftovers will be safe for almost forever, you are best to use them within 3 months for their best flavor.
  • Never refreeze more than one time, and the way I am sure to not waste any food is to freeze them in small individual portions.
  • Labeling is something I have learned to be very valuable for me, I often prepare a full slow cooker of my favorite soup, and then freeze it. Simply by using masking tape and a waterproof marker, you can label as you freeze your leftovers, and this works great for gluten free turkey soup recipes.
  • I prefer freezer bags myself, but you also can use containers. Being a single person this allows me to store more, and every time I cook I prepare a super big batch.

So these are some tips that I use myself to store my own food for another day, and I purposely prepare my slow cooker full as I possibly can with the intention of freezing the extra for another day.

Gluten Free Recipes Turkey Chili-High Protein Low Fat

Please follow and like us:

Higher protein and lower fat are what you get with gluten free recipes turkey chili, and this is a great choice for families on a tight budget as well. I remember growing up as a boy my mother always preparing this on cold winter days, but she used beef in those days instead of turkey. So let us see what are the benefits?

Which Is Better Turkey Or Beef?

Before I start sharing with you the facts between these two meat sources, I am curious why is there such a competition between these two and not chicken? At one time the medical professionals were pushing chicken at us constantly, and now all of a sudden this ugly looking bird has taken the place. Now they are claiming turkey is your best choice of protein from the meat you eat, so now the once-popular chicken is not heard about nearly as much as it used to. So this is what Live Strong has to say, and I will start by sharing their first tip in their article Which is Better for You Ground Turkey or Ground Beef?

Both of these protein sources have many similarities in saturated fat and sodium content. But, fat-free versions of ground turkey provide a very lean source of protein. So if you are searching for a high-protein plus a low-fat choice, I can see that beef is not our best choice if we are watching our fat content.

Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Turkey Recipes

So if you are trying to lose a few pounds, you are going to find this is a better option. You also will find this is a heart-healthy diet recommendation, and if you are working towards either of these health benefits this is something important for you to consider.

Saturated Fat Facts

We have been hearing for a very long time now about saturated fat, so let us see what the American Heart Association has to say? I always try to get my information from reliable sources, and I am sure you would agree the American Heart Association is a resource we can trust with our hearts? Below are some examples this organization shares in their article on saturated fat, so let us see what examples they share with us?

  • Fatty Beef
  • Lamb
  • Pork
  • Poultry with Skin
  • Beef Fat Tallow
  • Lard
  • Cream
  • Butter
  • Cheese
  • Dairy Products
  • Many Baked Goods
  • Fried Foods
  • Palm Oil
  • Palm Kernel Oil
  • Coconut Oil

From many baked goods and down may contain saturated fat, but the American Heart Association shares they don’t contain cholesterol. Next, they share their recommended alternatives to the list above. So let us see what they suggest?

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Whole Grains
  • Low-Fat Dairy Products
  • Poultry
  • Fish
  • Nuts

They also provide a reminder to limit the following in moderation, and here is what is on their list.

  • Red Meat
  • High-Sugar Foods
  • High-Sugar Beverages

So this is the American Heart Association’s guide on saturated fat and poultry without any skin is the meat source they recommend.

I Hope The Tips From The American Heart Association Is Helpful

Before I go on to the next paragraph I want to share a tip of my own with you, and my tip is fruit is a great choice for a healthy snack. You also should be aware of the high sugar content from this food group, and eat it in small portions as snacks and in moderation. My own dietician told me many people struggling to lose weight often is from overeating too much fruit, so many of us have been given the idea we can gorge on this food group without gaining weight.

Best Gluten-Free Turkey Chili Recipes

Before I start providing you the best recipe resources, I want to admit to all of you I am not what I feel is a great cook. I prepare my own meals in my slow cooker, so I can just add all my ingredients and allow the slow cooker to prepare my meals for me. I just want you all to know cooking is not one of my talents, but the reason I am writing this type of article is for Thanksgiving. What really is this holiday about, so for most families it is about being thankful for what we have to eat and the people in our lives. So with that off my chest, I now will begin sharing the best gluten-free turkey chili recipes.

  • Celiac Mama is my first resource you just might want to check out, and Celiac Mama’s real name is Jereann. She is the mother of two children that both need to be on a gluten-free diet, so I feel her blog is a very good choice for recipes that you can trust.
  • What website can you trust for gluten free recipes turkey chili than the Celiac Disease Foundation, so I feel this deserves to be on this list as well.
  • Another good choice is the website The Gluten-Free Good Life, and this also is known as GFF Magazine. I have never read their magazine, but this is something you might want to check out if you are into subscribing to them?
  • My lost resource on this list is the website Allergy-Free Alaska, and this one is for people like myself who depend on their crockpot to prepare their healthy meals.

I am very confident you will be happy once you visit these websites, and there are many more awesome cooking sites and blogs that could also be on this list.

  • Honey Suckle is a brand I have bought very often, and I am sure most of you are familiar with this brand as well.
  • Another good choice is Butterball, and this is another one many of you more likely know.

A Christian Prayer of Gratitude

Thank you, Lord, for the blessings you have bestowed on my life. You have provided me with more than I could ever have imagined. You have surrounded me with people who always look out for me. You have given me family and friends who bless me every day with kind words and actions. They lift me up in ways that keep my eyes focused on you and make my spirit soar.

Also, thank you, Lord, for keeping me safe. You protect me from those things that seem to haunt others. You help me make better choices and provide me with advisors to help me with life’s difficult decisions. You speak to me in so many ways so that I always know you are here.

And Lord, I am so grateful for keeping those around me safe and loved. I hope that you provide me with the ability and sense to show them every day how much they matter. I hope that you give me the ability to give to them the same kindness they have provided to me.

I am extremely grateful for all of your blessings in my life, Lord. I pray that you remind me of just how blessed I am and that you never allow me to forget to show my gratitude in prayer and returned acts of kindness.

Thank you, Lord.

In your name,

This prayer was provided by the website Learn Religion, and I confessed to all of you I am not a religious person. I do read and follow God’s word from the bible, but I feel you don’t have to be religious to be one of God’s children.

Safety Tips During The COVID

The following tips were provided by the website Today, and the following are recommended by the CDC. So you are hearing it from the experts on how to remain safe this Thanksgiving holiday, and if this has been something you appreciate me sharing feel free to leave me a comment?

  • Keep your Thanksgiving dinner small with your immediate family is highly recommended by the CDC.
  • Providing dinners to neighbors and friends should be done without facing them in person.
  • Shopping online rather than at your local stores for Black Friday is very important.
  • Watching football games at home with just your family, and avoid game day parties.
  • For dinners with more than just your household consider an outdoor dinner instead of indoors, but know this is more of a risk than the tips above.
  • Remember social distancing, wearing your mask, hand sanitizers whenever you must go out.

The following above are low-risk and moderate-risk activities for the coming holiday, and now we are going to see what the CDC has to share for high-risk activities?

  • Shopping in your local stores is extremely high-risk, and this is especially true for Walmart and shopping malls.
  • Spectator events should be seriously considered, but if you do attend wear your masks at all times to remain as safe as possible and practice social distancing if you can.
  • Parades are extremely high-risk and should be avoided if possible, you would be best to watch the parades from home.
  • Alcohol and drugs lower your immune system and should be avoided. If you do drink you should do so in moderation, you need to keep your immune system as strong as possible at this time.

I have heard the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade is going to be virtual this year, so watching from the comfort of your home is your best strategy to remain safe.

Since I had to make dramatic changes to my diet years ago I am feeling healthier, and so I know how people feel that are living on special diets during the holidays. Today’s article is going to be focusing on gluten free dairy free turkey recipes for the Thanksgiving holiday, and if this interests you please leave a comment telling me so.

When Food Is Making You Sick

One of the biggest challenges in my life was to change my diet, and even though I was eating healthy the majority of the time, I was still feeling extremely ill. When the food you are putting into your body is known to be healthy, you will find it extremely confusing why you are feeling so bad? So all my life I was experiencing low energy and digestive problems, but everything I read and my doctor told me I was doing. When your food is making you sick what can you do, and what turned my life around was going on an elimination diet.

Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Ground Turkey Recipes

My Basic Diet Plan

Today I thought possibly sharing my own basic diet plan just might help some of you, and I will admit at first this is very difficult for most of us to do. You are going to experience cravings for those foods that are making you sick, but if you hang in there for approximately a few weeks your cravings will become less and less of a problem for you. So let us look at my own basic diet plan, and you are going to find this includes the foods that are naturally gluten and dairy-free.

  • The main ingredient in all my meals is meat, and if you have any autoimmune diseases as I do, you want to focus more on the natural grass-fed meats as much as possible.
  • Turkey and chicken are your best choices for high-protein, and they are much easier on your pocketbook as well. You will find grass-fed beef is quite an expensive investment for a family, but turkey and chicken are affordable for the majority of families.
  • Other protein choices are eggs, fish, pork as other good sources as long as you are not allergic to eggs which is a possibility you need to be aware of.

With food allergies and intolerances you also need to be careful with any of your processed foods and reading food labels is a must to be sure you are not accidentally putting gluten or dairy into your body. now that you understand protein better, let us see what else is included in my basic diet plan.

Best Gluten-Free Turkey Meatball Recipes

Time To Listen To Your Mama

The next food group you want to be eating are your veggies, I guess mothers do know best since almost all of them tell their children to eat your vegetables. Lucky for me, I don’t mind eating the majority of them, but I must admit, if I was not adding creative recipes to make them tastier, I would have trouble eating them regularly.

  • Salads are my main way to get both my protein and vegetables during the warm summer months, I usually use turkey or chicken most often, but I have also added pork as well.
  • I find preparing them in soups and stews in the winter months in my slow cooker works the best, I can just throw some mixed vegetables with some form of protein and let my slow cooker do its thing.
  • You might find this odd, but the frozen mixed vegetables are healthier for you than the fresh ones I have read. It is not only healthier but also a time-saver plus saves you money all at the same time.
  • If you have an autoimmune disease you might find some vegetables are not good choices as well, I am not able to eat regular potatoes, peppers of any kind, and also tomatoes, and eggplant. So this is where the elimination diet test comes in handy, you can find out if any of these might be triggers for your own symptoms.

Now you are starting I hope to get the idea of my own basic diet plan, so next, we will look to see what else you can eat that is gluten and dairy-free.

Tips To Celebrate Thanksgiving With Food Allergies

My Next Food Group In My Basic Diet Plan

If you love fruit as much as I do this food group is naturally another good choice, you still need to read the food labels if you are buying vegetables and fruit in packages or cans. Your best choices again are frozen or fresh, but canned is a good choice as long as you read the labels to be sure they are safe.

  • Fruit salads are one of my favorite ways to eat a variety of this food group, and another easy way is to add them to your gluten-free oatmeal or cereal. These are easy to eat on the go and make great healthy snacks, and as long as you read the labels you know they are a good choice.
  • You also are able to freeze your favorite fruit when in season, so you can’t go wrong with adding this to your basic diet plan.
  • Even most people with autoimmune disease are able to eat fruit, but some people might need to watch out for citrus. Some folks experience problems with the acid, so this is just something to consider when eating your favorite fruit.

This is my basic meal plan that I can be sure to experience no symptoms, and by searching for gluten free dairy free turkey recipes you can have a nice Thanksgiving without feeling like you are giving up your holiday meal.

What About Snacks

Snacks are an important part of every diet plan, and many of you might find it a challenge to find snacks that fit into your new diet plan? So let us look at some that are good choices next, and remember again you must read the labels to be sure they are safe.

  • Nuts and seeds are good choices as long as you don’t have an allergy or intolerance to them, and these are very high-risk for people with certain autoimmune diseases. You will usually know within 20-30 minutes after eating these if they are not a good choice for you, but if you take the elimination test you will know for sure.
  • Popcorn is another good choice, but you will have to go without butter. I can tell you from my own experience popcorn without butter tastes very much like you are eating cardboard, so you might not be satisfied with this for a tasty snack.
  • Fruit of any kind in any form is a great choice, and again I love to make smoothies for my healthy snacks.
  • Vegetables are a good choice if you are someone who can snack on them and enjoy them, but for many of us, they just don’t satisfy our cravings.

Those are the natural snack choices for you to consider, so now I am going to go a step farther by sharing some processed snacks you are able to have. Remember these processed products should always be eaten in moderation, so feel free to check out what your best choices are in the next paragraph.

Thanksgiving Recipes For Children With Allergies

Recommended Processed Snack Options

Even I eat many of these from time to time in moderation, and the reason I do this is I am very sensitive to grains. I even find eating gluten-free grains a problem for me, but this could possibly be from my autoimmune disease?

  • KIND
  • Nut-Thins
  • Bunny Fruit
  • Dark Chocolate with Almonds Endangered Species
  • Crunch Dried Snacks

So these are the favorites that I have from time to time, so you can check this out next time you are out shopping for your snacks. Read the ingredients carefully before you purchase them, I have found you just never know when a brand might change their ingredients. Be patient or skip ahead if you are getting anxious for the gluten free dairy free turkey recipes, I promise they are not so far away now.

Dairy-Free Diet Benefits

Now that we know the benefits of adding turkey to our diet, I am interested in how going dairy-free would benefit my health as well? So this information is being shared by the website Benefit Of, and to be completely honest with you this is my very first time being on this website.  Let us just see what they have to say about this diet, but some of us have no choice anyway since we are dairy intolerant.

  • The first benefit from this article is this diet just might prevent health problems, and some of the issues this can contribute to are ovarian cancer, migraines, prostrate cancer, headaches, IBS, so this is very valuable information to know.
  • You are able to reduce your fat intake simply by going dairy-free, and how many of us are always trying to decrease our fat to lose unwanted weight?
  • The majority of people who can’t consume dairy are usually lactose intolerant, and the rest of the people are allergic to the products made from milk. No matter what, you have to admit these products cause problems in one way or another for many people.
  • Again we see this can help lower your cholesterol levels, so there are very good reasons to eliminate dairy from your diet.

Since I just shared what I felt was the most important benefits in this article, I am going to insert a link to the Benefits of Dairy-Free Diet just in case you want to read this in more detail.

Living with food allergies and intolerances is a brand new life, and many of us don’t realize this until it hits us. So this article will be focusing on holiday tips, and also the best gluten free turkey meatball recipes.

Tips To Celebrate Thanksgiving With Food Allergies

Holiday Stress Tips

It is no surprise the holidays provide stress for many people, and who more than the people who are planning and preparing the family Thanksgiving meal? When I was a boy I never realized or appreciated my mother and grandmother, but now that I am grown up I am aware of how much work they put into making everything just right. I can remember them starting early in the morning, and in fact, it was still dark outside when I started to hear the rattling of pots and pans. So be very grateful to whoever is doing the cooking this year, and appreciate them properly by telling them so.

Tips For Thanksgiving

I am sharing the tips with you from the website Mayo Clinic, so you can be sure you can trust this information. I often use this website for my own health issues, and I do recommend you do the same when you need to. Before I share the following with you, I chose the best gluten free turkey meatball recipes because this would be a great dish for kids. So you might want to consider adding this to your menu if you have children in the family, and I am positive they will love having this as a surprise dish just for them.

  • Be honest with your family how you are feeling, I know the majority of mothers and grandmothers take on this responsibility without even complaining. By sharing your feelings you also can enjoy Thanksgiving more, and you m right be surprised that your family will be more than happy to give you a helping hand?
  • If you are living alone as I am you might be feeling a bit lonely this time of the year, and this could be especially true this year more than any other with the COVID virus.  Volunteering if there are any opportunities is a very good strategy, and if not, you could just do something nice for some of your neighbors for the holiday.
  • Emails and online chatting might be how you must spend this year with family living far in distance. Again with the virus many of us will not be traveling this year, and this might be a very lonely time for us?
  • Every family has certain members who get on our nerves, but we must do our best to ignore them and try to enjoy the time together anyway.  Remember many people are stressed out more now than ever, so there may be some short fuses and negativity from some family members.
  • It is important to stick to your budget as much as you possibly can, and some families might have a smaller spending budget this year than other years. Never feel embarrassed to ask family members to bring a dish when they arrive, and the whole point of this day is to be grateful for what we do have and spend it with friends and family.
  • Donate to a charity that will help other families that are less fortunate than you, I find when I am feeling blue doing something for others perks up my mood.
  • Thanksgiving is a good time to start thinking about making home-made gifts for Christmas, so if you have any hobbies use them to give gifts this year if your spending budget is limited.
  • If things are extremely tough this year consider family exchanges for Christmas, and remember it is not the gift that is what is important but the idea you are doing something for someone you love and care about.
  • Organizing can make such a difference when it comes to stress, so planning out what you need to do is another important tip from the Mayo Clinic. I like to do a little each day when preparing for a big project, I find this keeps me busy without overwhelming me so maybe this is something you could try?
  • The most difficult word for mothers and grandmothers to tell their family is NO, but even you have your limits and must do what is best for you to stay calm and enjoy the holidays as well.
  • Many people neglect taking care of themselves as well, but this is a time when you need to take even better care of yourself with so much to do.
  • Focus on healthy snacks instead of too many of the goodies loaded with sugar and sodium, you will find this will do wonders for feeling less stressed. Vegetables and dips are a good choice, you will be putting natural anti-inflammatories into your body that is good for your immune system.
  • Never put sleep on the back burner, and you will find with proper sleep you will have more energy and be feeling less anxiety and stress with so many things to get done.
  • Be sure to take time to go for a walk or even a little yoga each day, you might be surprised how much a short walk or yoga workout will do for your energy and anxiety levels.
  • I find playing music really improves my mood during stressful times, and holiday music is always a good choice to keep yourself in a good mood.

I have added some of the things that work for me as well as the Mayo Clinic’s holiday tips in their article, so you can read their entire article with the link in this paragraph.

Use Your Energy From Your Anxiety And Stress To Accomplish Your Goals

First Turkey Meatball Recipe

For my first recipe today I am going to be sharing from the website Flippin Delicious, and this is one of the better sites to visit when it comes to preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday.

What You Need

  •    Ground turkey
  •    Gluten-free breadcrumbs
  •    An egg  If you have an egg allergy, you can leave it out and add about 2 extra tablespoons of milk. Your mixture will be more delicate,
  •  I use unsweetened plain coconut milk or almond milk, but you can also use dairy milk or another unsweetened plain milk substitute.
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder is easily evenly distributed throughout the turkey meatball mixture
  • Parsley
  • Rosemary
  • Salt
  • Pepper

I would like to add when you eat out and order turkey balls that are not usually gluten-free, and the reason for this is most restaurants are going to be adding gluten breadcrumbs. So this is something to consider when you dine out, I just thought this was important to share with you.

How To Prepare Your Meatballs

You will basically mix all the ingredients above together, and the recipe did not provide how much of each of these ingredients to add. You will want your mixture to be sticking together yet moist, and as for the spices, I would use them sparingly if this is your first time using them in a recipe. I prepare pretty much all my meals in my slow cooker, but you can bake them in your oven and even freeze them to use later. Flippin Delicious provides a lot of interesting information in this article, and I do recommend you use the link provided to learn more about the best gluten free turkey meatball recipes.

Thanksgiving Prayer For Families

Many of us don’t officially give thanks with a prayer before our meals all the time, but for this holiday most families will thank the Lord for the food on their table. So if you are looking for a short prayer, I have one for you that I hope you share.

God, we thank you for the blessing and joy of family. Thank you for those who are gathered with us today and those who are far away. May we all see the many ways you provide for us, comfort us, and protect us. Bless this food to make us healthy and strong.

I am sharing this prayer from the article 20 Thanksgiving Prayers & Family Blessings of Gratitude, so you can use the link to this article for more prayer ideas if you desire to.

Prayer Of Thanks

O, heavenly Father: We thank thee for food and remember the hungry. We thank thee for health and remember the sick. We thank thee for friends and remember the friendless. We thank thee for freedom and remember the enslaved. May these remembrances stir us to service, that thy gifts to us may be used for others.

Tips To Celebrate Thanksgiving With Food Allergies-My Tips For Thanksgiving

Please follow and like us:

What holiday is the most difficult for you to enjoy, so this article will provide you tips to celebrate Thanksgiving with food allergies. I find this is the most difficult time of the year, and the reason I am sure is obvious because food is the main focus on this special day.

Thanksgiving Recipes For Children With Food Allergies

The Challenge Of Dealing With Allergies

The holidays are the most tempting times to give in to our cravings, but I must admit of all my allergens. Ragweed is my second most difficult challenge when fall arrives, but I am able to manage this simply by staying indoors more often. But how do we enjoy Thanksgiving, and still stay healthy? So let us see what we can add to our menu to enjoy this special day, and I have some suggestions below for you.

  • Gluten-free turkey is our first main concern on this special day, and the turkey itself is safe for you to eat. Wheat starch is added to the broth as a thickener, but this will cause you a flare-up if you are living with Celiac Disease or even a wheat allergy. How to overcome this is to read the ingredients carefully, So I would say this is my most important of all my tips to celebrate Thanksgiving with food allergies.
  • The gravy also more likely will contain wheat as well, so you must either prepare your own or shop for gluten-free gravy at your favorite store.
  • Old-fashion mashed potatoes are loaded with dairy products such as butter for one, so anyone who has a problem with dairy should avoid old-fashion mashed potatoes. You can prepare your own with this recipe, but if you prefer you also have the option of sweet potatoes.
  • For those of you who can’t do gluten, you will want to be sure the stuffing was free of wheat bread when made in the turkey. Many people don’t realize just a small amount of a turkey with stuffing can ruin your entire day, but you don’t have to go without your stuffing. You can purchase a very tasty stuffing such as stove-top stuffing instead, and another option is to use gluten-free bread to prepare in the turkey.
  • Green bean casserole is a favorite dish this time of the year for many families, but the traditional recipe for this is not allergy-friendly. I just happened to find this gluten-free green casserole recipe for you, so now you also can have this on Thanksgiving day.
  • Many of you might have been skipping dessert since most of the goodies contain allergens. So in the next paragraph, I am going to provide you the solution so you too can have dessert.

As I promised the next paragraph you are going to find some dessert choices that will not trigger any allergy attacks, so read on for the goodies section of this article.

Time For Dessert Recipes

You are not only going to find these are free of allergens, but also great choices for those of you who might be vegans. I do hope my tips to celebrate Thanksgiving with food allergies are giving you hope for the coming of this holiday?

What Doctors Say About You

Since what I eat is the trigger for the majority of my symptoms, I wanted to share what I have learned from my resources over the years. You know as well as I know they keep changing the facts on everything that involves our immune system, but here is what I have learned over the years.

  • Prevention magazine wrote an article on this topic by Jessica Brown in 2018, and one of the facts she shares is that allergies to what we eat are more common. She also states that this type of allergy affects approximately 4% of adults, let us see what the College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology knows from their studies?
  • Since 2004 there has been a 44% increase in adults, and they provide the majority of people develop these allergies in their early 30’s. So does this mean once we hit 30 years old our immune system is beginning to weaken, and if this is so why are some of us born with allergies to certain foods?
  • Now, this article also is stating that doctors are saying some of their patients are incorrectly thinking they are allergic to products they eat. What I have found out over the years is if tests don’t confirm something doctors don’t accept you have the problem, but I told my doctors most of my life about my own issues, and they told me the same thing. So when I became in my mid-thirties my symptoms became more severe, and even today the tests don’t confirm my food intolerances and allergies.
  • Naba Sharif, MD is an allergist who claims even though our allergies to what we eat are more common, there still are only about 4% of adults with this problem. I would say these stats are going by allergy tests, and I know for a fact these tests are not always accurate from my own experience. So are these statistics really accurate, what do you think about this?
  • According to this article, 30% of us are imagining this, and the reason medical professionals claim this is no tests proved it. It also goes on to say that just because we eat something and then get sick we presume we have an intolerance, so are our doctors being fair to accuse so many people of imagining certain stuff they eat makes them sick?

I have been through this very same situation most of my life, and you know what once I did my own elimination test I started to feel healthy again. Even though no tests confirm my allergies and intolerances, once I figured out my triggers and eliminated them I began to recover. So are these tests really worth investing your money and time, I would say to you do an elimination test on your own first

Severe Digestive Pain Shortly After Eating Can Be A Food Intolerance Sign

Elimination Tests

In my own opinion when a doctor can’t find out what is causing your symptoms they presume it is in your mind, but medical tests don’t always show what your problem might be. I had a doctor wanting me to have my gall bladder out years ago, but today I still have my gall bladder. So how many people have gall bladder surgery that might not need it, so I urge you to try the elimination test before allowing them to misdiagnose you. I am going to provide you how to do the elimination test in the next paragraph, so read on if this interests you.

Foods To Avoid

  • Dairy
  • Eggs
  • Gluten
  • Fish
  • Shellfish
  • Night Shades that are tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, and peppers
  • Onions
  • Citrus
  • Soy
  • Peanuts
  • Tree Nuts
  • Corn

These are high-inflammatory food groups that are common triggers for allergies and intolerances, and if you have any autoimmune disease these are well-known triggers for your symptoms. If any of these are causing your symptoms you will begin to feel better between two to four weeks, so if you wait as I did until you have intestine damage it can take even longer.

Allergy And Intolerance Symptoms

You could be like me and are experiencing both allergy and intolerances to what you are eating, so allergy symptoms are usually mild, and discomforting. Intolerances usually cause you to become extremely sick, so they are much more severe symptoms.

  • Dry Mouth
  • Dry Eyes
  • Stuffed Up Nose
  • Headaches
  • Bloating
  • Itching
  • Hives
  • Digestive Issues
  • Fatigue
  • Tummy Pain
  • Joint Pain
  • Muscle Pain
  • Brain Fog
  • Migraines
  • Weight Loss
  • No Appetite

Intolerances usually cause you more severe digestive issues than allergies, so if your health is seriously being affected within 20-30 minutes after you eat the elimination test is something you should consider.

How To Do The Elimination Test

This might be the most important of all the tips to celebrate Thanksgiving with food allergies I share with you, and if you noticed you have been becoming ill after this holiday meal the past few years or longer I would have to say you really should consider taking this simple test that will cost you nothing in cash. So let us begin the steps to getting started, and it is up to you if you give this a try or stay feeling sick all the time?

  1. Begin your test simply by eating natural products such as fruits and vegetables, you also can have grass-fed poultry. You see if you eat beef and they were fed grains they are gluten-contaminated, so grass-fed meats are what you want to be putting into your tummy right now.
  2. No dairy or eggs as well, and the reason for this are the hormones in them can be a trigger to making you ill.
  3. Now you want to make a list of what you are going to start eating from now on, and you will want to keep a log or journal how you feel 30-60 minutes after you eat each of these foods.
  4. Choose the most favorite of the ones on your list to eat for three days, You want to write everything down to eliminate this from your possible triggers.
  5. After the three days, you will know if this will go on your good or bad list, and now you will choose a new one from your list and do the very same thing.
  6. It is best, to begin with, what is referred to as the green food zone. Vegetables are your best choices to start your body healing from any damage. Then you will be adding one new food every three days until you know which ones are good or bad for you, and even though this is time-consuming it is the best way to cure your problem with what you are eating that does not agree with your immune system.

For me, it took almost one-year for my body to heal. That is because by the time I diagnosed myself as having a problem with what I was eating my intestines were damaged, so everything I was eating at that time still made extremely sick. You might also find eating very small portions to be helpful, I found this way I was not sick as long from my bad foods.

I Diagnosed Myself By Doing The Elimination Test

Tips To Celebrate Thanksgiving With Food Allergies

I really hope my own experience with allergy and intolerances helps you, I suffered most of my life simply because no tests showed I had issues with what I was putting into my tummy. Eventually, everything I would eat would make me extremely sick, and I warn you don’t allow it to go that long or it will take you years possibly to recover. Even today my intestines are not fully healed, and I have accepted they are never going to. If I get even one bite of contaminated food my intestines let me know with severe tummy pain, and often I will have blood in my stool from my internal bleeding. By doing the elimination test you can know what you can and can’t eat on Thanksgiving, and also once you know your triggers you can substitute them in recipes to make them allergy-friendly for you.

From my own experience, I can tell you food allergies can ruin your Thanksgiving

Safest Allergy-Friendly Food List

Now many of you might be wondering as I am, so what are we supposed to feed our children? I really do struggle myself finding new things to add to my own diet, so I know how anyone feels that suffer from allergies. Let us see what the doctor prescribes for the safest on the list, and hopefully, we can find some tasty alternatives?

  • Apples
  • Apricots
  • Asparagus
  • Avocados
  • Beets
  • Broccoli
  • Carrots
  • Cauliflower
  • Chicken
  • Cranberries
  • Dates
  • Honey
  • Lamb
  • Grapes
  • Lettuce
  • Mangoes
  • Peaches
  • Pears
  • Raisins
  • Rice
  • Salmon
  • Squash
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Turkey
  • Veal

Now reading this list the first thing that comes to my mind is what do we feed our children, I don’t really see many choices on this list that will appeal to most kids? Maybe you are not familiar with the symptoms of eating high-risk allergy foods, so let us look next at what to watch out for?

Food Allergy Symptoms In Kids

I feel it is very important for parents to understand what to look for, I suffered most of my life as a boy clear up to my 30’s. Until I started losing weight and constant stomach pain, I was not aware it was from the ingredients in some of my meals. So below is a list for you to be aware of, and this hopefully will help your child start to feel better real soon?

  • Tummy pain is a sure sign your child could be experiencing symptoms of allergies from food, and now let us see what other symptoms could be signs?
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Cramps
  • Hives
  • Swelling
  • Eczema
  • Lip Swelling
  • Swollen Tongue and mouth
  • Dry Eyes, and Mouth
  • Itchy throat
  • Wheezing
  • Even Lower Blood Pressure

This information I received from an article on the website Hopkins Medicine, and I am sure most of you will agree this is a good resource we can trust for reliable information? They also share that even a very small amount may cause serious and dangerous issues for your child, and if ever in doubt never take chances take your boy or girl to the emergency room right away. If more than one or two of these symptoms are regularly affecting your child, you should consult your physician right away.

The first step is to know what foods could be causing your symptoms

Food Allergy Or Food Intolerance?

I am kind of an expert on both of these, but not by any degree in the health field. Sometimes the best experts are those who are living day after day for years with specific problems, and I suffer from both of these issues daily since the day I was born. You will never receive any medical recommendations from me, but you will learn from my own experiences that may help your child to feel healthier. Digestive issues are one of the main health problems we are experiencing today, and just look at how many of you might be taking anti-acids or other over-the-counter digestive products regularly? So many of you might not be aware of the difference between an allergy and intolerance, but I am going to provide you what I know. First below is the list of the most common intolerances you may experience, so I hope this helps you to get started on the right track.

  • The number one culprit for more of us these days is a plant protein by the name of gluten, and from my own issues, I suggest if your child is experiencing digestive issues this would be where I would start.
  • Fructose, fructans, and polyols are often the next possibility to consider, you will find these in products such as honey and syrups.
  • The yolks and the whites of eggs are another common intolerance, and for some, it might be mild and others it can be severe.
  • Bakers yeast is the last one on my list for you in this article, so these are the ones I would consult your physician about first if your child is experiencing regular digestive issues.

I am unlucky enough to be intolerant to all of the above, but I find gluten is my most severe intolerance of the list above. If I happen to get any hidden gluten in something I eat, I will know it within 20 minutes or less after eating that product. Reading product labels is a must to manage food intolerances and allergies.

Guten-Free Products At Amazon

You might find like I am that you can’t purchase all your gluten-free needs in your local grocery stores, so you must order some of them online. Amazon seems to be the most affordable place I have found. but if you know of a better choice please leave me a comment, I would really like to know. I am on a fixed-income so every penny I can save counts, and I really would appreciate you commenting if you can help me. Allergy-Friendly Stuffing Recipe

Since stuffing is what I had missed the most on this holiday for years, I thought this would be a good place to start with Thanksgiving recipes for children with allergies. This was provided by the website Kids With Allergies, and you might like to know this is a division of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. So this is another good resource I recommend.

If your child loves stuffing but has been doing without because he or she is gluten intolerant, you now have two recipes to choose from to give them stuffing once again. You also have the option I use being a single guy living alone, I go with Stove Top gluten-free stuffing mix for my Thanksgiving meal.

What About Dessert?

Another thing that I really miss is the holiday desserts, and I always was a big pie eater on Thanksgiving day. So I thought since many of the deserts are not allergy-friendly, I would share some tempting recipes in this paragraph. Read on to be tempted with what I have shared with you below, and I hope some of these inspire you to give them a try this year.

  • This carrot cake is soy and dairy-free, you might find this interesting many people allergic to dairy also can’t have soy. This I found on the blog by the name of Dairy and Soy Free Mom, so if this interests you, I provided a link above.
  • Gluten, dairy, and corn-free cinnamon rolls, I have bookmarked this one since I have not had a cinnamon roll in many years. I really do have a weakness for baked goods, but I seldom have them since many of the gluten-free products just don’t taste the same.
  • Peanut and tree nut-free cookies are our next choice on the list, and these are supposed to be a big hit with children. So this might be a cookie recipe you want to consider, so let us see what is next?
  • How many children love peanut butter cookies, but if you happen to be intolerant to gluten this might not have been available. Here is a gluten-free peanut butter cookie you can try, but be sure your child does not have an allergy to peanuts.
  • Egg-free Rolo cake mix bars, I am not familiar with these myself, but if you wish to check them out here is a link to the Cookies and Cups website.
  • This one is one I am not going to be able to resist, I have not had a taste of pumpkin pie for a very long time. This one is allergy-friendly, so I for sure am going to bookmark this one as well.
  • I can remember my grandmother always preparing no-bake cookies on the holidays, but her recipe has ingredients that I am not able to digest. So here is a recipe you might want to check out, and you can find this one on the website The Freak Food Gourmet.

So here are the desserts that caught my eye on the article 10 Allergy-Free Holiday Desserts, and you will find a few Christmas goodies as well if you visit the website.

Prayers For This Special Holiday

Before I conclude this article on Thanksgiving recipes for children with allergies I want to share some prayers, and I do hope you find some of these appealing to you to possibly use for your own family on the special holiday this year?

“This Thanksgiving, let those of us who have much and those who have little gather at the welcoming table of the Lord. At this blessed feast, may rich and poor alike remember that we are called to serve on another and to walk together in God’s gracious world. With thankful hearts, we praise our God who likes a loving parent denies us no good thing.”

Cecilia A. Moore, C. Vanessa White, and Paul M. Marshall

“O God, when I have food, help me to remember the hungry. When I have work, help me to remember the jobless. When I have a home, help me to remember those who have no home at all. When I am without pain, help me to remember those who suffer. And remembering, help me to destroy my complacency, bestir my compassion, and be concerned enough to help, by word and deed, those who cry out for what we take for granted. Amen.”

Samuel F. Pugh

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.”

Psalm 100

“Thank You, God, for this food. For rest and home. And all things good. For wind and rain and sun above. But most of all those we love. Amen.”

I really hope these prayers inspire you for the holidays coming upon us very soon, and you can find more of these by visiting the article 50 Best Thanksgiving Prayers by the website Parade.

Thanksgiving Recipes For Children With Allergies

As someone who struggled to enjoy the holidays ever since a child, I know how allergies and intolerances can ruin your holiday. I really believe more families need to understand how severe these can affect their child’s life, you don’t want your little boy or girl to go through what I did as a child. Even today this time of the year is difficult for me, you see the temptation of our favorite foods we can’t have will never go away.

The first thing I want to make clear is I know how Thanksgiving food allergies affect your holiday, I struggle even today with this time of the year being on a strict diet of my own. I never look forward to this time of the year simply because I am unable to eat most of the traditional foods, so I want everyone to know I truly do understand if you are living with food allergies and food intolerances.

Common Trigger Thanksgiving Meals

One thing I really miss is the turkey stuffing, and the reason I am not able to eat the stuffing is I am intolerant to gluten. It is a fact many people are now going gluten-free, and the majority of them share they have more energy and less digestive system issues.  Even if you are not intolerant these are hard on your digestive system, and I even have experienced no more acid reflux simply by changing my diet.  The best part about this is you can go without this plant protein for a few weeks, and if it is causing any of your symptoms you will notice a positive change right away. Dr. Hallet wrote an article on the most common foods from the traditional Thanksgiving meal that are triggered to our symptoms, so let us check the doctor’s list to see what we should watch out for?

  • Milk
  • Fish
  • Eggs
  • Shellfish
  • Tree nuts
  • Peanuts
  • Wheat
  • Soybeans

I highly urge you to take the extra time to read the ingredients on the packages, and now it is a law a company must list these ingredients with so many people with allergies today.

Is Your Thanksgiving Turkey Allergy Free

For the majority of families, turkey is the traditional meal. So are these safe for people with allergies to consume, and one of the biggest concerns for me is if the stuffing was prepared in the bird. You see unless you stuff them with gluten-free stuffing, you just contaminated the main course of this holiday meal.  Now, this is not a big deal for those of you who are tolerant, but someone like me, just a very small portion will ruin my holiday making me extremely sick for days.

Where Gluten Can Be Hiding

After years of getting extremely ill from products that I thought were free of gluten, I want to stress the importance of knowing about this plant protein being hidden in many foods. So how can we know which products may be hiding this from us, and here are a list of just some for you to watch out for?

  • Sauces
  • Gravy
  • Seasonings
  • Broth
  • Dinner Rolls
  • Stuffing
  • Green Bean Casserole
  • Soups

Just about anything that has a thickener could be holding hidden gluten, and another thing you must consider is if you are having both gluten and gluten-free on the same table this plant protein could be spread accidentally? What many people don’t understand is if one person uses their knife to butter their food, they could possibly be contaminating the butter with gluten without even realizing it?

thanksgiving food allergies
One of the worse foods on the holidays are the ones that contain hidden gluten

Gluten-Free Substitutes

With so many people intolerant or allergic to gluten you can find many substitutes, and below I have listed just some examples to give you an idea.

  • Stuffing
  • Flour
  • Dinner rolls
  • Bread
  • Soups
  • Sauces
  • Seasonings
  • Pasta

You might also find it interesting some of us who are gluten intolerant also can’t eat regular potatoes, and what you want to do is substitute with sweet potatoes instead. Other foods that contain no gluten to avoid are tomatoes. eggplant, and peppers, so this means that anything that contains any of these also could possibly be a trigger for your symptoms as well.

Thanksgiving Meal Alternatives

I have some alternatives for you to consider. Believe me, Thanksgiving food allergies really can spoil your holiday by eating trigger foods that are hidden from you. Let us now take a peek at some of the alternatives I have to share with you, and I hope this is helpful to any of you who have a bad relationship with the most common allergy foods?

  • Sweet Potato Cakes
  • Pumpkin Soup
  • Quinoa Salads
  • Corn Fritters
  • Vegan Shepherd Pie
  • Chocolate Dipped Fruit
  • Sweet Potato Casserole
  • Gluten-Free Crackers
  • Sorbet
  • Pumpkin Pasta

These are allergy-friendly alternatives to spice up your holiday meal this year, and the majority of people with Thanksgiving food allergies can eat these. For those of you who are new to this, I am going to list some recipes just for you in this article below.

Mayo Clinic Allergy Tips

Suffering from allergies my entire life I am not a stranger to how miserable you can be, I also suffer from autoimmune diseases that make my life even more challenging with what I am able to eat. so let us see what The Mayo Clinic has to say below.

  • Always read food labels, even brands you have been using for years can change their ingredients at any time. So it is better to be safe than sorry, and it just is not worth suffering when it can be avoided.
  • Whenever you are out it is important to be extra careful, and the Mayo Clinic recommends when you are in doubt it is best to not take the chance.
  • Caregivers should be aware of how important your child’s diet is for them, and as a parent be sure you can trust your caregivers with your child when you are not around.

Even though the tips above are more of a lifestyle they are very important, so let us see what else the Mayo Clinic has to say?

People Who Are Naturally Grateful For What They Have Are Happier People

What To Ask Your Doctor?

If you suspect food is causing you symptoms it might be time to talk to your doctor, and for many people, they are not sure what to ask their doctor? So here are some questions you might want to consider talking about at your appointment, and these come from The Mayo Clinic website.

  • Could my symptoms be food-related?
  • Are there any tests?
  • Is this a temporary condition or long-term?
  • What treatment do you recommend?
  • What are my alternative options?
  • How do I manage my existing health issues with this condition?
  • Dietary restrictions
  • Do I need to see a specialist?
  • Is there a generic version of the prescription you are providing me
  • Ask for any resources you can acquire online

So this is a good guide for those of you seeking information, and let us move on to the next paragraph now.

This holiday is very important for us all to be grateful for the things we have, and for any of you interested in some prayers I have included some below for you.

Moravian Blessing

Come, Lord Jesus, our guest to be
And bless these gifts
Bestowed by Thee.
And bless our loved ones everywhere,
And keep them in Your loving care.

We Gather Together Hymn

We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;
He chastens and hastens His will to make known.
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.
Sing praises to His Name; He forgets not His own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, were at our side, all glory be Thine!

We all do extol Thee, Thou Leader triumphant,
And pray that Thou still our Defender will be.
Let Thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

For each new morning with its light, For rest and shelter of the night, For health and food, For love and friends, For everything Thy goodness sends.

Is It A Cold Or Allergy?

Many times parents are not sure if their children might have an allergy or a cold, and even your child’s physician is not always sure? Both of these provide similar symptoms, and that is the reason sometimes it can be confusing to know what one they are experiencing.

Colds And Allergies Common Signs

  • Both of these can come out of nowhere, you might be fine one minute and an hour later starting to feel symptoms.
  • Coughing is common in both colds and allergies
  • Sneezing
  • Runny nose
  • Headaches

Now let us look at just how the common cold affects your child, and maybe this will help you understand which of these is causing the issues above?

Common Cold Symptoms

  • Coughing up mucous the color of yellow or green, and it will be extremely thick as well.
  • Most often a fever can be present when you have a cold, but many times it is so mild parents are not aware their child even has a fever.
  • Spring and Fall are when the majority of kids catch a cold, and usually, the symptoms are more severe this time of the year.
  • The majority of children will be complaining about muscle aches, so these are some of the facts to consider.

Allergy Symptoms

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Tummy Aches
  • Diarrhea
  • Respiratory Issues
  • Runny Nose
  • Sneezing
  • Watery Eyes
  • Dry Mouth, Throat, and Eyes

In severe cases, a child can experience their throat to swollen causing them an emergy trip to the hospital, so food allergies are not something to take lightly and should be treated by a physician if the symptoms are severe.

Jan de Vries places a strong emphasis on the importance of diet, and the effects of food additives and drugs. Did you know that schizophrenia can be treated through diet? Or that the lives of hyperactive children – and their parents – can be returned to normal by eliminating even a single item from their food intake?

I Am God’s Song

I Am God’s Song is a Free Booklet provided by the Unity organization

Unity poet laureate James Dillet Freeman once told a close friend he thought the heart of Unity was “words that change lives.”

His inspiring words and beautiful poems have certainly touched hearts and encouraged friends of Unity for many years.

We’ve collected the wisdom of James Dillet Freeman and his best-loved poems in the latest booklet from Unity, I Am God’s Songavailable for you to request today.

Freeman’s poetry still has the power to renew faith, provide comfort in times of grief, and inspire us to celebrate the wonder of joy and love we know as individual expressions of God.

It’s a true keepsake booklet—the kind of touchstone you’ll find yourself returning to as part of your prayer practice again and again.

Peanuts And The Tree Nut Family

You will find many of the allergy friendly Halloween candy doesn’t contain peanuts or any of the tree nut family, and both of these are two different types of food groups I want to make it clear before going any further with this article. You need to know peanuts are actually a bean and not a nut at all. So you could be allergic to one of these without the other, and this is very important to know. Technically they are considered a legume crop, I just wanted everyone to understand there is a difference between these two foods.

The Tree Nut Family

For anyone with a tree nut issue, I have included the most common ones people eat and could be triggers for allergies.

  • Almonds
  • Brazil nuts
  • Cashews
  • Chestnuts
  • Filberts
  • Hazelnuts
  • Macadamia
  • Hickory nuts
  • Pecans
  • Walnuts
  • Pine nuts
  • Pistachio

Many people usually are allergic to all tree nuts, but you could very well be able to eat some and not others. The only real way to know for sure is by trial and error or having your physician give you an allergy test, I warn you these tests are quite expensive plus all insurance companies might not cover them. You will want to check before having these done, so this is just something to think about before you go through with allergy tests.

Common Tree Nut Foods

Even though this article is focusing on allergy friendly Halloween candy, I feel if you are allergic to tree nuts it is important to know what foods you might want to avoid.

  • Candy
  • Baked goods
  • Ice cream
  • Puddings
  • Cereals
  • Granola
  • Trail mix
  • Bread
  • Honey
  • Veggie burgers
  • Almond milk
  • Almond extract

Now that we have the tree nut family taken care of, I am going to do the same for the peanuts as well. The reason I am putting so much effort to inform you of these two food groups is they are the most dangerous, you will find some people have actually lost their lives to these and others have been hospitalized. So I feel these two deserve the most attention in this article, so let us now see what foods to avoid or at least be careful about eating.

  • Candy
  • Desserts
  • Pastries
  • Condiments
  • Cooking aids
  • Chocolate bars
  • Egg rolls
  • Beer nuts
  • Artificial flavoring

One thing you really need to do is read the ingredients if you have a peanut allergy, you will find more foods than you realize may have been used in some form. Flour is one ingredient in many vegetarian and gluten-free products they use peanut flour or possibly even peanut oil, and peanuts are the most dangerous allergy for many children.

Worse Allergy Time Of The Year For Kids

Amazingly Halloween is the highest reported allergy season for children, so common sense tells us it more likely is from all the treats they are eating. News Max wrote an article on the facts proving this, so if you want to read their post feel free to use the link in this paragraph. Here is a list of the symptoms News Max provided for parents to watch out for, so I have listed these below for you.

  • Itching
  • Hives
  • Lip swelling
  • Tongue swelling
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Wheezing
  • Dizzy spells
  • Passing out
  • Tummy pain
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Anxiety

So you can see how dangerous allergies for children can be from these two food groups, and it is nothing to take lightly. Every child will not experience the same symptoms or the same severity, but these are the most common signs to watch out for.

Allergy Friendly Halloween Candy

Now comes the most important part of my article, what is the safest candy for your child with food allergies? You will find if you read the ingredients chocolate bars are high on the list to check carefully, but I have provided you the list of the safest trick or treat candy for your child this Halloween.

  • Swedish Fish is a favorite of many children, so this is the number one choice on the list I found.
  • The second one on the list might suprise you as it has me, and it is made by a company by the name of No Whey Chocolates.
  • Skittles is not a new name to most of us, I can remember my own sons eathing these all the time when they were boys.
  • Gimbal’s gourmet jelly beans is another new name to me, but I would not turn down a good gourmet jelly bean that is allergy-friendly.
  • What kid does not love Smores, and you can trust the brand Enjoy Life for smores for your entire family.
  • Sour Patch Kids is next on the list, but I am not familiar with this candy, but I have heard and seen it in my local Walmart store.
  • Star Bursts is another option you can consider, so if your children like this brand it is even safe for them.

Now you know some safer options for your children with allergies, but remember these are brands that contain none of the most common allergy ingredients. You can find even more depending on what your child might be allergic to, but these are allergy-safe no matter what your boys and girls might be allergic to.
