Top 10 Tips For Moving Safely During COVID 19-What You Need To Do

What you need to do to survive can be a very stressful time for many of us right now, and since I am in need of myself to go from a house to an apartment motivated me to write this article.  The top 10 tips for moving safely during COVID 19  is something I am researching for myself, and since others might be in this situation as well, I thought this would be a very helpful article for other people besides just me.

You Need A Good Plan

If you are like me and maybe not experienced, you might be wise to come up with a good plan. I have no family members able to assist me, so I am on my own with this change in my life. The reason I am needing to go from a house to an apartment is due to my health, so I am quite anxious about living among a large group of people when the COVID-19 is taking so many lives. Since I have no choice but to do this, I read my first step would be to come up with a good plan. so according to Movers Folder, this is what we need to consider.

How Will You Get Your Stuff From A to B

Since I am absolutely alone with this major change, I must first figure out my options on how to get my stuff from my home to the apartment building? For anyone with a low-income or fixed-income like me, you will need to figure out how to make this work? I have come up with two choices since I am on this quest alone, so I am able to rent a Uhaul truck and do all the moving on my own. The other option I am considering is getting a moving company to do the work for me. Now you must decide which one of these options is possible with your income, so you will need to check the prices of renting a truck or hiring a company as your first step. As for me, I now know my two best options, and I just have to see how much money I have to work with when the time arrives.

Is Video Chat An Option

Even though Movers Folders suggests using video chat on a mobile device to provide the company what they will be moving, I am not in the situation to do this. Since I don’t have this option this is not an option for my plan, but if this is something you would be interested in doing this prevents you from having to interact with the company in person. This is a very safe option to consider, but it just is not an option for me. So if you are not going to use this, you can easily make a list of what you need them to relocate to your new dwelling. This will make it less anxious for you, and this still is a very safe strategy to consider.

Packing yourself will save you money and is not as hard as you might think

How To Pack Your Stuff Yourself

I already have everything packed in boxes that I am not using right now, so by doing this you are avoiding being overwhelmed when it is time to move to your new place. Now you are able to pay some companies to do the packing for you, but remember that will be an extra fee that you will need to check into before the time comes to be on your way. Even if I had the money, I would do this myself. Why pay a company when I can save money, and this is not as time-consuming and difficult once you get started one tip I recommend is for you to mark what room every box needs to go in, and this will be a time-saver when you begin unpacking. You do have the option to purchase your boxes and supplies from the company, but if you want to save money your best option is to purchase them from another source. So you can order your supplies from Amazon for one, but you also can check your post office as well. I ordered mine from my post office online, and they arrived at my home in just a few days. The best part is I didn’t have to pay for anything, so this is an option to save even more money.

Staying Safe During Your Moving

Remember to wear your mask during your moving, and also do your best to stay at a safe distance from other people. I know this is going to be more difficult for me since I am relocating to an apartment building, but I am hoping and praying all goes well. One thing that Movers Folders recommends is to allow the company to do all the work, and this will prevent you from becoming closer to them than is safe. I am sure the workers are not infected, but you just don’t want to take that risk when it comes to this virus. This really is one of the most important top 10 tips for moving safely during COVID 19.

Step-By-Step Economical Moving Plan

Hygiene Matters

We all know how important washing our hands regularly and using hand sanitizer is, but we must be doing this even more during our going from our old home to our new home. I am sure the company will provide its workers with masks and even gloves, but even so, we must be extra careful when it comes time to start unpacking. I must admit I am anxious about relocating at this time, but due to my health, I need to do this to be able to take better care of myself. It is also wise to keep anyone in your family safe during this time, so this is something else we must consider when making this change in our lives.

More Safety Precautions To Consider

We all are very worn out from dealing with all these safety changes in 2020, but we must be extra careful when relocating by taking extra precautions.

  • Wearing Masks
  • Gloves
  • Hand Washing
  • Hand Sanitizer
  •  Avoid Touching Our Faces

Until 2020’s pandemic, I never realized how much we touch our faces with our hands. Many of us including me do this without even thinking, so being more conscious of what we are doing with our hands is an important precaution to make a point focusing on.

Don’t Forget About Your Pets

Now medical experts are saying our pets are also vulnerable, so being a pet owner of a Miniature Australian Shepherd this is important information. If you have neighbors who would allow your dog or cat to stay with them just until you are relocated this would be great, but for me, I am completely on my own. If this is your case as well, you can keep your baby either in their crate or in another room. I plan not to take my canine companion with me until I am completely moved in, and even though this will break my heart, I know this is the best way to keep him safe. Cats and ferrets are more vulnerable than dogs, so if you have either of these this is even more important for you to do. This also is a good plan for those of you with children, and hopefully, you have neighbors who would not mind keeping your kids and pets for a little while.

Moving Day

By any chance, if anyone including you are feeling unwell, you should cancel your activities for that day. I know this would be an inconvenience, but you are putting so many people at risk by going ahead with your plan that day. So knowing the symptoms is something we all need to know, and if you or anyone in your home is experiencing these please cancel your moving day.

  • Fever
  • Dry Cough
  • Extreme Fatigue
  • Aches and Pains
  • Sore Throat
  • Diarrhea
  • Headaches
  • Loss of Taste
  • Loss of Smell
  • Skin Rash
  • Discoloration of Toes and Fingers
  • Struggling to Breathe
  • Chest Pain or Pressure

I will admit some of these symptoms can be caused other than by the virus, but it is better to be safe than sorry. People with other health issues might experience these as part of their other health problems, so you know yourself the best to understand if this is normal for you or possibly signs you have been infected?

Making Your New Home Safe

The apartment building I am going to be living in the near future disinfects every apartment, so this does reassure me my new home is going to be safe for my Miniature Australian Shepherd and myself. For those of you who are not so lucky, you really should make the plan to have your new home disinfectant before allowing anyone who is vulnerable including your pets move in. Remember this is even more important if you are having a company move your stuff, and be sure to get rid of all your packing boxes as soon as possible just to be on the safe side. This is another top 10 tips for moving safely during COVID 19 that is very important to know, so I do hope this article has given you some things to consider that you might not have thought about on your own?

Steps To Find The Right Company Near You

I know from my own experience choosing the right company can be a very stressful experience, and sadly where I live my choices are very slim. As I shared earlier in this article, I have decided on using UHaul for my moving day. One reason is they are very affordable, and the other reason is they are the closes company near me. What you must realize is companies that charge you mileage starts from where they are coming from, so if I choose another option I would be paying much more than going with the options I have chosen. For anyone, interested here are the steps provided by The Moving Blog, and since they specialize in blogging about moving they should know what they are talking about.

  • The first step they recommend is to get free quotes, and this sounds like a very good step to start making your plan.
  • Trustworthy companies are the next step, and local companies are your best choice if you are only moving within the town you are living in right now.
  • Avoid dealing with any that will only give you a quote via phone or email, you want them to come to your home to actually see your stuff and give you an accurate quote.
  • Once you have the prices of the ones you have chosen, you will want to consider all of their prices, services, and options to compare them.
  • Be sure you are considering the best ones in your local area, and by doing this it will assure you of a less stressful experience on moving day.
  • Checking their websites is also a very good idea, you can check for any hidden costs or services that will assist you in determining if they are right for you.
  • Any of the ones on your list that is a part of the American Moving And Storage Association are your most reliable choices, and you can visit their website with the link above if you wish to.

Top 10 Tips For Moving Safely During COVID 19

Being that I am on my way to be relocating to an apartment building instead of a private home, I have shared within this article what was important for me to know about making this change. I must admit I am nervous about this at this time, but I know this is something I must do to be able to take better care of myself. I just am not able to take care of a two-story house with a yard any longer, and waiting will only make it so much harder for me. COVID 19 Tips For Dog Owners-Attention Pet Owners Guide

Being a pet owner knowing COVID 19 tips for dog owners is very important, I am planning on moving to an apartment but if I can’t take my Miniature Australian Shepherd with me I will stay where I am. Even though a house is too much for me to care for, you would never find me putting myself before my baby. I am writing this article for all the dog lovers in the world, and after you read this you will understand more about how to protect your faithful companion.

ASPCA Tips For Dog Owners

How many of you trust the ASPCA when it comes to your pet, I completely trust them and they are one of the first places I go for information. When it comes to my Miniature Australian Shepherd he always comes first, I have many times sacrificed to provide him with the pet products he needs to be safe and healthy. Even if I must do without things from time to time, I do it because he means the world to me.

  • As it is for you keeping your pet safe is by staying home, so other than walking your dog you might want to consider leaving him home instead of taking him out in public.
  • Washing your hands frequently is recommended for your pet as much as it is for you, so by you taking good care of yourself you also are reducing any risks to your pet.
  • The ASPCA recommends in this article pet owners should try to keep at least a 30-day supply of pet products, and besides their food, it is a good idea to stock up on their medications as well.
  • This tip is something I am not able to do myself, and that is to have a designated caregiver for my Miniature Australian Shepherd. I live alone without any family living in the same town as me, so this is something I need to work on as well.
  • Starting a journal or notebook with all your pet’s needs is very important, and this is for the caregiver if you ever need them.

37% to 47% of people own a dog for companionship, and where I live you can’t go out without seeing people walking with their faithful companion. Pennsylvania is a major animal lover state, and most of the residents donate to organizations such as the ASPCA.

What You Need To Know

In an article published in September of 2020, a small number of pets have tested positive for COVID-19, so according to this article, it is believed your dogs and cats might be able to become infected by people. The article also states that you become infected by your pet is a very low risk. So let us see what else this article tells us, and right now we just don’t really know enough about this virus.

  • Treat your dogs and cats just like a child, so you want to protect them from exposure to anyone or any animal that might be infected.
  • If anyone in your household has symptoms, you want to isolate them from everyone living in the home even your pets. For children, this might be very emotional especially if they have their own dog or cat.
  • Anyone who owns a kitty should not allow them to go outdoors, and with them, it is much easier since they use a litter box and really don’t have to go outdoors.
  • When you walk your dog try to remain at least 6 feet from other people and dogs, and this is easy for me living in rural Pennsylvania, but for those of you living in the big cities this could be more of a challenge to do.
  • The best places to walk your pet would be places not popular with crowds of other people, I take my Miniature Australian Shepherd on the nature trails near my home in Pennsylvania.
  • As tempting as it might be to mask your puppy or dog, you should never attempt to do this it really can cause harm to them.
  • For anyone with concerns, you should contact a veterinarian, and this goes for if they show signs they are sick or even if you need pet care tips during the COVID-19 virus.
  • The age of your pet contributes to their risks just as it does for people, so often with a puppy or younger dog they will experience mild symptoms and recover quicker than an older pet.
  • Children under 5 years old are also high-risk, so these are the ages of kids you need to be extra careful. Older adults are also high-risk as well, so these are the age groups you need to protect.

I am living proof of how pets can improve your physical and mental health

How Dogs Can Improve Your Health

Even though this article is focusing more on dogs than any other pet, you can be sure adding an animal companion of your choice can improve your health. I became ill with an autoimmune disease in my mid-thirties, and that ended my career. It also caused me to lose pretty much everything in my life, so my ex abandoned me and I lost my home I worked for my entire life. Luckily my children were pretty much grown up, but I had to move into a low-income apartment which did not allow me to have my dog. That was even more emotional for me than losing everything else, but once I got back on my feet and added my Rottweiler as my companion everything started to become better. I would like now to share how a pet can improve your health, and so read on to learn more.

  • Improves your heart health occurs for many people, and many say this is better than any other type of medicine.
  • Dogs especially are associated with healthier cardiovascular functioning, and the main reason for this is they will motivate you to move more with walking daily.
  • Studies actually have shown people with a canine companion have a lower blood pressure than many others without one, and there are many reasons for this, but the most important one is they provide a natural calming effect.
  • A very interesting fact is they also provide lower cholesterol levels for many pet owners, but the studies have at this time not been able to explain why this is?
  • Those of you who experience high stress and anxiety might benefit from owning a canine companion, and studies have shown the calming effect naturally reduces both of these in the majority of people.

Even though adding a puppy or dog to your family can provide you health benefits, you really don’t want to share your home with them unless you really can provide them love and proper care. I can tell you I would be much more of a couch potato without a pet, and it is very difficult to stay depressed very long when you are loved by that special companion.

How To Protect Your Dog

My next COVID 19 tips for dog owners is how you can protect your dog, and the majority of people with canine companions take better care of their pet than they do themselves. So now we are going to see the best ways to keep our babies safe and healthy, and this information I am sharing comes from the Mayo Clinic.

  • The Mayo Clinic recommends you avoid places that are popular places people walk their dogs, so public parks are just one place you should avoid in most communities.
  • Make it a point to keep them on a leash, you also want to stay a safe distance from other people and dogs. The recommended distance is 6 feet, but the farther away you can stay from others the safer for both you and your canine companion.
  • If you or anyone else in the household becomes sick, you should isolate that person from everyone plus your pets. My niece has a Yorkie, and keeping them separated would be very dramatic for both her and her Yorkie.
  • When you or your puppy are showing symptoms of being sick, you should avoid allowing them to lick your face. Many people sleep with their new pet, but if they are not well this is another thing you should make a point to avoid.

Free Family Solutions is proud to provide solutions to your problems, and COVID 19 tips for dog owners is my first article concerning pets. I chose this topic since I am a dog owner, and I know how I worry about my baby getting this virus.

COVID Pet Tests

How many of you would be interested in being able to test your pets for COVID, I for one would be interested in being able to test my Minature Australian Shepherd if he showed signs of being sick? Next, I am going to provide you some information on this type of test, and the company that makes these pet tests is IDEXX.

About IDEXX

The company IDEXX is a leader in providing veterinary diagnostics and software, and their test for COVID 19 for pets will be available to veterinarians. This company actually shares that your cats and ferrets are a higher risk than your dog, so this is good news for dog owners. I do feel very sad for cat owners after hearing this, I know more women seem to be fond of cats than dogs. As for ferrets, I really don’t know anyone with one and I have never seen one in person. So it seems that our pets actually are going to be able to be tested by their doctors if suspected of having this virus.

If Your Dog Tests COVID-19 Positive

Now I am concerned about what will happen next if my dog ever tests positive for COVID, So let us see what we should do if this ever happens to your pet?

  • Isolation from the family and other pets, but just how are we supposed to do this?
  • Never use hand sanitizers or other chemicals on your pet, and this also goes for cleaning wipes.
  • Follow your veterinarian’s recommendations on how to care for your dog during their infection.
  • This is very important for us to know, you might not even know they are sick since some never show any symptoms of being unhealthy.
  • The small number of animals that have been infected recovered completely by isolating them at home, so this seems to be the best treatment but I would take them to their vet just to be safe.
  • There is no evidence that their waste needs any special infection, but of course, you should be careful cleaning up after them and be sure to wash your hands and use hand sanitizer.

Next, I am going to provide you the symptoms to be on the outlook for. This is very important for pet owners to know, and provide them medical attention immediately.

Symptoms of COVID in Dogs

As pet owners, we must take the time to know the symptoms of COVID-19 in dogs. I have provided you a list of the symptoms to watch out for, and if your pet starts having these warning signs seek medical attention for them right away.

  • Fever
  • Coughing
  • Breathing Difficulty
  • Laying Around More Than Normal
  • Sneezing
  • Runny Nose
  • Eye Discharge
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

I would suggest if your puppy or dog starts showing these symptoms to contact your pet’s doctor right away, I always call my dogs doctor before taking them to see him. Often they can prescribe what to do over the phone, but if they start showing signs of struggling to breathe I would rush them to get medical assistance right away. It is better to be safe than sorry, and even if they are not infected you will have peace of mind knowing they are okay.

COVID 19 Tips For Dog Owners

I am very happy to be able to provide this article to all of you who are pet owners, and even if you don’t own a dog this information can be very helpful no matter what type of pet you might have. I found it interesting that cats and ferrets are at a higher risk, so if you happen to have either of these you need to be extra careful. How Housing Vouchers Can Help Address Rental Crisis-COVID Rent Crisis Tips

Families are in need of help from their governments during COVID-19, and how housing vouchers can help address rental crisis is just one way. This article is going to look at the options that could possibly ease the financial stress from this pandemic. So I urge you to read on to learn more, and you can always count on Free Family Solutions to provide you with solutions to your problems at no cost to you.

Joe Biden Stimulus Relief Package

As we all know President Trump’s administration not only misled American’s about the severity of COVID-19, but they also have failed to provide the people with a stimulus relief package for the holidays. So let us see what Joe Biden would have done if he was our president, we need a president that will take care of all the people not just their wealthy friends.

  • More checks are one thing Joe Biden would have done as your president, but he has not given any figures of how much or how often at this time.
  • Loan forgiveness would be provided for American’s, and this would provide relief for anyone with loans of at least $10,000.00.
  • Student loans are another thing that would be in this relief plan, and right now many college students are not able to continue their education during this pandemic.
  • Increase your employment benefits is another important change that you would have seen, and even though there is not any information on exactly how much it is still more than our current president is doing for the people.
  • An additional $200.00 would be added to anyone receiving social security benefits, and how many seniors are in need of this right now with the high prices of our economy?
  • Small business relief would also be in this plan, so many of you with a small business would not be in as nearly as severe financial stress as you are right now.
  • For anyone who becomes ill from COVID-19, you would be able to apply for emergency sick leave. Since we are supposed to stay isolated for at least 14 days if infected, I know for a fact, you all would benefit from this.
  • You would receive testing, treatment, and a vaccine once available at no cost to you, so this for many of you would be providing proper care despite you might have lost your healthcare insurance.

This is what Joe Biden would provide American’s if he was the President of the United States, so I ask you why has President Trump not done more for you? Read more on how housing vouchers can help address rental crisis, so next, I am going to share with you how people used their stimulus checks.

Prayers For COVID Patients

How American’s Used Their Stimulus Check

How many of you are interested in how other American’s used their $1200.00 stimulus check from the Trump Administration, so if this information would interest you, I have listed this for you below.

  • 45% of American’s saved their stimulus check of $1200.00, so almost half of the people were smart enough to put it back for a rainy day.
  • 31% of the people used the money to pay off debt, and this shows another positive way people took advantage of this stimulus check.
  • 14% according to this poll was in need to use this for their basic living needs, so again they used it wisely and didn’t just throw it away.
  • Only 7% of the people spent this on non-essential needs, and I am sure the majority of these are those who possibly are living with mental health issues.
  • I am very happy to share that 4% donated to worthy organizations, so as you can see very few of you actually wasted your crisis relief.

For those of you who are desperately in need of the second stimulus relief, you might be curious how much you might receive? This will depend on your income according to the article on CNet and the present bill would also consider many other factors such as how many dependents you have. Of course, you know it is much more complicated than this and that is why the Republicans are preventing you from receiving another stimulus relief plan.

Housing Voucher Program

For anyone who rents living on a low-income this could be a solution, and with this program, if you qualify you will pay approximately one-third of your total rent, and the government program will pay your landlord directly their portion of the rent.  So this is a basic guide on how housing vouchers can help address rental crisis, and if you are interested read what I have shared with you below.

  1. First, you must find your local housing agency for more information, and they will provide you with the answers to all of your questions.
  2. You are only eligible if you receive a low-income, and this is to provide families earning very low income to be able to afford a safe place to live.
  3. Once you apply and are accepted into this program, you will receive what they call a housing voucher.
  4. Your next step once you receive your voucher is to start your search for a safe home that is for rent, and you will have to talk to the landlord about this program to see if they will be interested?

This is a very basic guide on this program, but if you are interested in learning more and applying you can find your local housing agency from this website. Many people who are working low paying jobs and even those seniors who are on social security are eligible. So the best thing you can do if you are struggling to pay your rent is to apply, so what do you have to lose?

Grocery Coupons And Discount Codes

Attention Renters

It is no secret the majority of families are struggling to pay their rent, but if you are lucky to have a good landlord you might be able to pay them in other ways. The majority of landlords prefer to be paid by cash or personal checks, but today many are also accepting rent via electronic deposit. So these options are fine when you have the cash, but if your landlord will work with you there is another way?

Paying Your Rent With Credit Cards

Even though I don’t recommend you go this route unless you have no other choice, I just learned some landlords are accepting renters to pay them in this way. Many of you might have a Pay Pal account, and if you are able to pay in this manner this is yet another option to talk with your landlord about? The majority of people have Pay Pal accounts for their online transactions, and I also use this method to protect my bank account and credit cards. So if your landlord has or is willing to open an account, you are able to pay your rent to them with this method at least to get by for a while?

how housing vouchers can help address rental crisis
Using your PayPal account can be a temporary way to pay your landlord

Open A PayPal Account

The first thing the renter and the landlord both will need a PayPal account, and this is a very easy, free account for both of you if you open personal accounts? Since this is a secure method for you to pay your rent, and for the landlord to get paid it is a good option for both of you. So let us see what you must do to make this work for both of you, so let us open up your accounts.

  1. The first thing you want to do is go to their website, and you will want to be sure the personal account option is chosen. This is the option by default chosen when you go on their website, but I suggest you double-check just to be safe before going any further.
  2. Once you click continue, you will be required to fill in your personal information. This will be your address and your email contact information, and then click continue and you are ready to add your bank account or your credit card information. I prefer to use my credit card instead of my bank information, and for this purpose, you want to add your credit card since you are going to be paying or receiving rent through PayPal.
  3. As the landlord, you are not required to provide your bank account or credit card unless you wish to, but if you do you will be able to do transactions online instead of using your bank account or credit card information which I strongly recommend.

This is really all that it is to open an account, you will need an email account. You will receive any transactions in your email, and this is a safety precaution to be sure your payment was received by your landlord. This also benefits the landlord to know their rent was paid, so this is a very good option for both parties. For those of you who prefer a step-by-step, I have taken the time to insert their video to guide you step-by-step.

These are just a handful of books that are highly recommended for those of you who never applied for government grants before, and I recommend you check out the step-by-step books they always are the ones I choose for myself.

How Housing Vouchers Can Help Address Rental Crisis

I chose this article and the information because I really want to help you, and I am very disappointed in our government for not providing the assistance the people require during the COVID-19. I am not registered as a democrat or republican, I am an independent simply because I believe there are good and bad in both of the parties. When the government divides the people this makes our country vulnerable, and right now that is what our country is during this pandemic.

Best Places To Shop For Vegan Food-Grocery Shopping Store Tips

I decided to provide some food grocery shopping tips in this article, and with the high prices where are the best places to shop for vegan food? Being limited to what I am able to eat due to allergies and intolerances I understand the stress people are under, and where I live there are no special shops for anyone on this type of diet.

Going Vegan Step-By-Step

I must admit I have tried many times to go totally vegan, but I find my body just craves meat from time to time. So for anyone who is interested in how to start this type of lifestyle, I have provided you a step-by-step plan. Before I begin this process I would like you to understand my own special diet, and that is no grains of any kind plus no dairy products can be put into my body. It just is not worth the symptoms to cheat, so when you decide or must go on any type of special eating plan it is not as easy as you might think?

  1. When I had to change my own diet, I did a major food clean up. You will want to take everything that will not be a part of your new diet out of your home, and what I did was gave them away to my neighbors and donated some to the local churches.
  2. You will find the majority of what you don’t want to eat any longer will be your processed foods, so those are the first ones I recommend you start with. These are also known to contribute to many health problems, and they also contain animal products that are not in a vegan diet.
  3. The next thing that you really need to do is to ask yourself why I want to change what I am putting into my body, and most of us will answer this question with to be healthier. Many people choose this type of lifestyle because of their love for animals, so both of these are very popular reasons people choose this type of meal plan.
  4. What you want to focus on are plant-based food groups, but if you are like me and are not able to eat grains this makes this change much more challenging.
  5. For many of us easing into the vegan diet is our best strategy, I have tried many times to change completely overnight and every time I have failed. So if you are a breakfast person start by adding a plant-based breakfast to get started, and for those of you who don’t do this meal start with your first meal of the day to be totally plant-based.
  6. Once you are able to make your first meal without any cravings, you will then want to add the second meal of your day to be plant-based as well.
  7. You will also want to start eating snacks as well that are within your new diet plan, so the key is to ease gradually into a special diet whenever it is possible to avoid super cravings. With my change that was not possible and the reason was that my allergy and intolerance foods were making me extremely sick.
  8. Whenever you are ready you can eliminate all animal products completely, but I have never been able to do this myself. My diet consists of mainly some vegetables and fruits, and as animal products go I am forced to go with grass-fed meats.
  9. If you do like me happen to fall off the wagon and give in to non-vegan, you really need to just get back on track and not give in completely as I always do.

So now you have a step-by-step plan if you are serious about making such a drastic change, and if you decide to follow this plan I wish you the best. Since this might be new to many of you I have a plant-based food list, so this might help some of you to stick to your new diet plan?

Plant-Based Beginner Recipes

Before I provide you the best places to shop for vegan food, I want to share what you can choose from on this type of diet. So next we are going to see the plant-based foods you can choose from, and if you are a fan of vegetables and fruits you just might be able to content on the foods below.

  • Unless you have any allergies to certain vegetables, you have your choice of the ones you enjoy to eat. I do the best with salads, and if you are a fan of salads this is a good way to stick to your plan. I also eat quite a bit of home-made soups, and they are easy to prepare if you use a slow cooker.
  • If you can eat whole grains these will help fill you up, but as I shared I am not able to digest grains of any kind very well. Even gluten-free, I can only get away with eating small amounts in moderation.
  • Legumes are another good choice for soups, but you can eat them alone if you prefer.
  • Plant-Based protein sources such as tofu and tempeh are your best choices.
  • Nuts and nut butters are another good protein choice, but eating them in moderation is the best to maintain your weight.
  • Seeds are a good snack choice for those of you who like them, I do like to munch on sunflower seeds from time to time.
  • All the fruit food groups are on your list as well, and again as long as you have no allergies or intolerances to any of them.
  • Oils you want to be sure to stick with plant-based, and I use olive oil which is a healthy fat.
  • To improve your meals you will want to start experimenting with herbs and spices, and both of these are very healthy for you.

So this is my guide to get you started, and if you are going on this to be healthier I recommend you avoid any of the nut butter with artificial ingredients. Read the next paragraph for the best nut butter brands to purchase, and I thank you for reading the best places to shop for vegan food. I encourage you to share this article if you find it helpful with your family and friends, and if you wish to leave me any comments I would be happy to hear from you.

Are There Health Risks Being A Vegan?

Many people worry if a plant-based diet is actually healthy, and depending on the article you read you could become very confused? According to  Clean Eating Kitchen, there are risks you need to be aware of. So let us just see what risks their article suggests we should consider, and I have listed them below for your convenience.

  • The first risk they provide in their article is that legume protein might increase your chances of experiencing the leaky gut syndrome. I for one am not able to eat these, but my problem is my digestive system can’t digest them properly.
  • The next one they share is that soy protein can cause you hormone problems, so let us see what they tell us next?
  • Some people on this type of diet are experiencing anemia, but I have been anemia my entire life despite I was not on a vegan diet?
  • What would you think if I told you that this diet could cause you to become depressed, I do know that what we put into our bodies can cause many health problems but I am not sure if I believe this diet is the cause of depression or not?
  • Vitamin B12 deficiency is another risk they claim, so if you are living this lifestyle maybe you will need to add vitamins and supplements to your diet? I am deficient in vitamin D and vitamin B12, but this is also common with anyone with autoimmune diseases.
  • You also according to this article you could become low zinc as well, and the reason they say is being a vegan prevents you from being able to absorb zinc?
  • This diet they are saying can provide you too many carbohydrates, and this can lead to fatty liver disease.
  • Lastly, this diet could cause you to develop an eating disorder by the name of Orthorexia.

I am not sure I am convinced a plant-based diet is the cause of the health issues in the article, and that is because with an autoimmune disease I experience some of these problems despite I am not on a vegan diet.

best places to shop for vegan food
Salads and soups are my main meals with a little turkey or chicken

I am having problems accepting what the article on Clean Eating Kitchen has provided, and the main reason is at one time people lived mainly on a plant-based diet. So what I think is our immune systems are just messed up from the chemicals in our products and processed foods, and I am not a medical expert just sharing my own opinion.

Best Places To Shop For Vegan Food

Since my diet consists of about 70% vegan food and 30% grass-fed meat, I do the majority of my shopping at my local Aldi’s store. Now if you shop online you will find more of a variety of places to shop, but for where I live in Pennsylvania Aldi is my best choice.  I can find the freshest fruit and vegetables here instead of Walmart or Shop n Save, and those are really my only choices where I am living. So if you are interested in vegan meal delivery services, I have listed what is supposed to be your best choices below?

  • Sun Basket
  • Favorite Vegan Dish
  • HelloFresh
  • Green Chef

Now, these are the recommended vegan meal delivery services you should consider first. I for one could not afford to go with this type of vegan meal choice, so that is the reason I shop the most at Aldi’s. I have found over the years if you are on a special diet your most affordable option is to prepare your own meals at home, and vegan meals are very easy to prepare simply by buying yourself a slow cooker. You just throw in your ingredients and allow the slow cooker to do the work for you. I rarely use my stove to prepare my meals, so this is something I highly recommend you give a try.

Family Fun Night Ideas For Families-Thanksgiving During COVID 19

As more and more people are becoming sick what is Thanksgiving during COVID 19 going to look like for you, and since many of you are not going to be able to get together during this holiday, I have some family fun night ideas for families. With these possible suggestions, you are able to spend your evening doing fun things. We must not allow this crisis to ruin our health or our holidays.

5 Tips To Stay Healthy This Winter

Celebrating Thanksgiving

Many families like my own will not be spending Thanksgiving together, and for my family and maybe even your own this will be a difficult time for us all. One thing I plan on doing for my mother and my three sons might interest some of you, I am planning on sending them all a gift basket. By doing this, I am allowing my mother and my three sons to know I am thinking of them. So even if you can’t spend the holiday together, we all can let them know they are in our hearts and on our minds. So let us consider what else we can do being separated for the first time on this holiday, and let your loved ones know they are in your hearts is almost like being there with them.

  • Amazon Gift Cards are something my three sons are always happy to receive year-round, so this is another good choice if you really don’t want to send a gift basket.
  • I never go wrong when I order a plant for my mother from Logees, and why I love this website is they provide you with rare plants you will not find at your local Walmart.
  • For seniors or those who live alone, I suggest you consider sending a Thanksgiving Meal. You can choose from many choices, and if you need some ideas here are the 10 Best Thanksgiving Meal Delivery Boxes.
  • Never underestimate the thoughtful gesture of sending a card in the mail, and today you can even do this via email. For your convenience here are some of the better choices, and you might be surprised how much you will brighten someone’s holiday simply by sending them a free e-card to them.
  • Another good choice that comes to my mind is the person’s favorite bottle of wine, so this would be a very thoughtful and personal gift to send someone special for Thanksgiving. If you have never done this before, I suggest you check out the website Wine Country Gift Baskets.

So even though you might be separated from your loved ones this year, I hope some of my suggestions inspire you how you can still make this holiday special for those you love.

Virtual Thanksgiving For 2020

Even though there is nothing like being together on the holidays, you might know the right thing to do is celebrate virtually this year. So if you need some inspiration for a plan, you can use the link above to get you started on the right track.

Instead of feeling blue and depressed, we need to stay busy with fun things to do especially for our children. So next I am going to share some inspiration to get you thinking about how you can spend Thanksgiving, and I hope these get you in the holiday mood despite the COVID-19 crisis.

  • Thanksgiving bingo could be something for your entire family, and if you live alone there are online bingo websites that you can play as well. You can even add this to your virtual holiday list, so if this is something that might interest you to use the link below to learn more.

Virtual Bingo Up To 30 Players

  • If your children are young and into coloring, you could have a family coloring contest. You can download for free Thanksgiving coloring pages for children and adults, and here is a website where you can choose from 64 coloring pages especially for this holiday.
  • How does free printable trivia sound to you, and if this sounds like something you might be interested in, you might just make this a new family tradition?

So far are these family fun night ideas for families giving you some inspiration for the holiday, and let us see what other options you have that are budget-friendly?

  • I just found something that is brand new to me, and do you remember the game hot potato you might have played as a kid? You can create this game as well by using a Thanksgiving replacement instead of a hot potato. All you need is a small object such as a symbol for the holiday, you can even make your own little turkey by getting a free printable turkey online.
  • Good Housekeeping provides a unique game called Gratitude A to Z, you start by sharing something you are grateful for starting with the letter A, and the next person does the same only using the letter B, and so on.
  • If you are in the situation to invest a little money, you can purchase this game that goes by the name of POKENO. This is a great choice for families interested in poker and bingo, and you can make it even more fun by providing prizes.

Shop For Pokeno Games On Amazon

  • The Journal Game will cost you very little, and you can use a regular notebook purchased from your favorite dollar store. The jest of this game is you pass the notebook around, and each person writes one thing that they are thankful for. You then will read what everyone has written, and you try to guess which person wrote each one.
  • Another family fun night ideas for families that come to my mind, you can all start to decorate the homestead for Christmas. Right after Thanksgiving people start getting ready for the biggest holiday of the year, so why not make this a family activity everyone can join in?
  • My last suggestion would be to start baking cookies for Christmas as a family, I don’t know anyone who can’t join in on this. Even the youngest member of the family can be a part of this, and this also includes dear old dad.

I do hope I have provided you some inspiration for things you can do as a family for Thanksgiving, and if you sit down together I know you can come up with even more.

Prayers For COVID 19 Patients-Pray For Those Infected

How To Pray For The World

This crisis we are living in is not just in the United States, and I have added prayers on my own prayer list for every person in the world. I strongly believe every person in every country is a child of God, and we must realize there are good people and bad people in every country including the United States. So let us pray for everyone in the world to survive the COVID-19 crisis, we have already lost way too many lives to this terrible virus.

Pray for the World; Pray for the World ” I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness…” – 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Now for those of you who are not comfortable praying for others, I am sharing some guidance to get you started. Once you form this habit it will become natural for you, but the most difficult part for most people is how to get started?

  • The first step is to open your heart with sincerity for everyone in the world, and you must not think of people in other countries in a negative manner. Forget that they might look different than you, but accept all people wish for the same things in their lives.
  • Secondly, you must make this a regular part of your praying routine, we are people of habits. So as you form this new habit, you will find this will become natural with time and patience.
  • We all need to have faith in the words in our prayers, so allow your heart to speak to God through your prayers.
  • Sincerely provide love to everyone in the world and even those who might do you wrong. Forgiveness might be very difficult for most of us, but this is something we must do to be able to love the world.
  • Many people find prayer requests to be helpful to get started, and you can find many prayer requests online that will cost you nothing.
  • I make it a point to pray for everyone in the world living in an area of disaster, and I really feel God approves of us when we talk to him about our thoughts and feelings for those suffering in the world.

These are how I pray for the people suffering in the world, and I hope by sharing these it helps you also start praying for the people you might not know or ever meet in other countries.

Praying For Others Bible Verses

The following bible verses might also benefit you to get started as well, and as you read these really allow them to enter your heart to get the most from them.

Abraham interceded for the people of Sodom for the sake of his nephew Lot (Genesis 18:23-33). He memorably started by asking if God would spare Sodom if 50 righteous people were there. From there he boldly but humbly asked about 45, 40, 30, 20, and finally 10, and God answered, “I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.” Though God did not find 10, He fulfilled Abraham’s intent by sparing Lot and his family.

Moses pleaded for God’s mercy for the sinning people of Israel (Exodus 32:9-14; Numbers 14:11-20). Moses turned down God’s offer to make a nation out of Moses’ descendants and persuasively begged for God’s mercy for God’s name’s sake.

Daniel begged God for his people (Daniel 9:3-19). Daniel’s passionate and meaningful prayer ends with his plea, “O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name”

Prayers For COVID 19 Patients-Pray For Those Infected

I urge you to provide prayers for COVID 19 patients fighting for their lives, we must start working together instead of fighting. The United States is more divided than ever in my entire lifetime, so isn’t it about time we start acting like adults instead of little children?

The Power Of Prayer

Like many of you, I once was not one who believed in the power of praying, and what it took for me to open my eyes and heart was when I woke up one day with autoimmune disease. Even after I became so ill I had to give up my career, I still fought the idea of adding prayers into my life. Like many people, I also did not start to form a relationship with God until I was desperate for a miracle in my life. Now, this is a part of my daily routine, and on my worse days, I might speak with him several times asking him for strength and wisdom. I urge you to give this a try, and you also will find out in time this is well worth your time.

“True prayer is neither a mere mental exercise nor a vocal performance. It is far deeper than that — it is a spiritual transaction with the Creator of Heaven and Earth” (Charles Spurgeon).

Heather Riggleman

How Prayer Changed My Life

I must admit I am in no way a religious person by any means, you will find me rarely attend any church services most Sundays. So I did give going to services a try for about a year, and I tried almost every one of them in my town in Pennsylvania. You must understand God does not condemn anyone for this, and everyone has to find what works the best for them. I prefer to read the bible and provide prayers for COVID 19 patients in the privacy of my home, You will also find me reading inspirational books or listening to audiobooks, and I highly recommend you start out in the privacy of your home to form a loving relationship with God. So I am going to share with you how prayer has changed my life, and you can be sure I am praying for all of you to be safe and healthy during this crisis we are living in.

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Protection
  • Healing
  • Faith
  • Love For Others

These are just a handful of ways adding this to my life has changed my life for the good, I once was extremely anxious and depressed. Today, I am positive and devoting my time to helping others through this website. I have experienced an improvement in my physical and my emotional health through my relationship with God, and now when things are going bad I put my problems in his hands. I can honestly say everything just naturally works out for the best for me these days, and I am never negative or depressed no matter how bad things seem to be.

“Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

Relationships With God

Many people put too much stress on themselves when they first decide to add prayer to their daily lives, but there is no right or wrong way to talk to God. You don’t need to even know any of the bible verses to start a relationship with him, and all you have to do is talk to him like you would anyone else. The simple act of thanking him when a miracle happens in your life to solve a problem you are facing is more than enough, and I never ask God for physical things that just in my mind is not what our relationship is all about. So maybe some of you are interested in this, but you just don’t know how to get started?

Making Time To Talk To God Is How You Start A Relationship

The Ten Commandments

All you need to do is start talking to God, so making time for him is the key to getting started. You don’t even have to read the bible, but I do recommend you read the ten commandments and start doing your best to follow them. When you do slip up as we all do, you will not be punished just admit to God you messed up and you will be forgiven. Even the most dedicated Christians lose their temper at times, and we all say things that we don’t really mean when anxiety and stress get the best of us. So learning the ten commandments and doing your best to follow them is a very good way to get started, and make the time to talk to him regularly about what is on your mind and in your heart is easier than you might think right now?

  1. “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.
  2. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My Commandments.
  3. “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
  4. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it, you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
  5. “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
  6. “You shall not murder.
  7. “You shall not commit adultery.
  8. “You shall not steal.
  9. “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  10. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

As you read the ten commandments you will notice that they are commonsense, and the majority of people do try to be a good person and naturally want to follow these in their daily lives. So just making it a point to try to follow these more than you are doing now is a good start, and when you sin all you have to do is admit it to God and you will be forgiven. I watched the DVD The Ten Commandments which really helped me understand more clearly, so if you are a visual learner this might benefit you as well?

Prayers For Children With COVID

The first prayers I want to share with you is for the children, and many of you might be misled thinking your children are immune to this virus. There are kids who have weak immune systems today, so they are at high-risk to become infected and even could lose their lives. So open your heart as you read these, and help God heal our children who are ill. Parents and grandparents are in need of your prayers for COVID 19 patients, and I urge you to provide them the power of prayer with an open heart.

God,
You know right now things feel scary.
We are worried, and my child does not feel well.
But even now, we know we are not alone.
Love surrounds us like warm blankets.
Hope is still there, even when we can’t always see it.
Everywhere we look, there are doctors and nurses and helpers.
May our hearts be filled with peace instead of worry,
Hope instead of fear,
Thankfulness for all of the helpers, instead of loneliness.
May we hold tight to each other,
believing that even when it is hard and painful, it will get better.
May my child’s body heal just like it should,
and may their pain be gone.
May angels watch over us,
and may we rest in peace and hope.
Amen

Dear God,
I love this little one with my whole heart,
and I know that you do too.
Please help us both to remember that
even though we can’t see you with our eyes,
we can feel you with our hearts.
Please take away any pain or fear that they may be feeling.
Bring them healing and comfort.
May they know how loved they are by You,
and by me, and by all our family and friends.
Amen

The next prayer I am going to share is for any parents or grandparents who have lost a child due to the COVID virus, and my heart is breaking for all the families who have lost loved ones especially children.

In this time of sacred, heart-breaking mystery,
we give thanks for this precious life
now to be held in the protective arms of God.
May the Divine presence and light,
surrounding (child’s name) bring peace,
and may that same Presence also give
strength and courage
to those who will hold this child forever in their hearts.
Amen.

Praying For The Patients In The Hospitals

Now let us all read the prayers below and open our hearts to those in the hospitals, and these people are all fighting for their lives. Please realize this is no joke or hoax as some people think, we have people really losing their lives to this terrible virus. Since these are for the patients in the hospitals maybe you can read any of these that you like to them, and if not read them and pray for them instead.

Dear God,
Help me be aware of how much my family and
friends love me, even though they can’t be with me.
Remind them of how much I love each of them,
especially (name family and friends here).
I am also mindful of the animals who share life with
us.
Help the people caring for me have wisdom.
Help me feel your love and presence as you guide
me through this time of sickness.
Let good memories sustain me as I wait to know
what comes next.
Free me from pain, free me from fear.
Surround me with your love, empower me with your
courage.
Amen

God of Love and Comfort,
Here I am, sick and in the hospital.
Please take away any fear or pain I might be feeling
right now.
Guide the staff who are caring for me.
Help me remember that I am not alone,
because you are with me,
and because I am surrounded by love from my
family and friends.
Help my family and friends to know that I am
sending them love, too.
In your name, I pray,
Amen

Here is one for someone who has joined God in heaven now, and this is something every family should do for anyone who they have lost due to the COVID 19.

Ever-present God,
I hold up this precious life to you,
Giving thanks for the love that has been given and received.
May they be granted peace, now and forever,
Amen.

So these are my prayers for patients which I hope some of you will read and open your heart to God, and he does know if your heart is sincere or you are just putting on an act to impress other people and him. I am praying for the entire world to overcome this terrible virus, and I hope some of you will add them in your own prayers as well.

How Prayers Promote Healing

Many people are skeptical that praying can actually provide healing, but when I talk to God about healing people I instantly can feel my anxious feelings and thoughts disappear. So people who are infected who receive your prayers will begin to heal naturally by God’s hand, and as you open your heart to them their bodies begin to become calm which helps them to begin to heal. The more often we all talk to God about the people with this virus the more effective this is, but you must believe and have faith that whatever happens, it is for the best. Below I have shared one that you can use to help your friend who has tested positive, and I hope some of you use some of the prayers I am sharing with you.

Lord Jesus, thank you that You love us. I know that You hate what this illness is doing to my loved one. I ask, in the name of Jesus, that You would heal this disease, that You would have compassion and bring healing from all sickness.

Prayers For COVID 19 Patients

I really feel this is important more than ever for us to bring God back into the entire world, and this is not just something that a few countries are experiencing, so start praying right away for those people all over the world. I am going to end this article with some blog post you can get access to even more prayers, so feel free to check out any of them that interest you.

Free Family Solutions is proud to be a Christian and able to provide my readers with resources, and right now I feel my reader’s main problem they need solutions for is the COVID 19 virus.  I thank you for reading this article and feel free to comment or/and share Prayers for COVID 19 Patients with your family and friends.

How COVID Is Affecting Students

I know for a fact my niece who was in 10th grade last year was passed to 11th grade this year, but what concerns me is she actually missed out on an entire year of school due to this pandemic we are living in right now. So how is this affecting our children’s education might be something some of you are curious about as well, and here is what the article from Brookings Education has to say.

  • Students could possibly be behind if their parents didn’t take their education in hand at home, and the majority of the children are expected to be behind in Mathematics. So it is advised that schools need to do academic testing to evaluate where each student is in their education levels, but I am sure many schools like in my rural area will only do this if it is mandatory by law.
  • This article also suggests that individualized learning programs might be a good idea, and the reason for this is they are predicting all the students in the same grade level will not be at the same academic level after missing so much school.
  • Catching up students is going to be a real challenge for educators, and in my state of Pennsylvania, many of the schools opened and now are shut down again due to the increase of the COVID virus spreading once again.

I have only provided you the main points of this article, but if you are interested in reading the entire article you can click on the link below.

The Impact Of COVID On Students

The Symptoms To Watch Out For

Some of your children might experience some of the symptoms when going back to school, and for parents and grandparents to be aware of the warning signs will tell us we need to get them help. so this article is not only about supporting your mental health during school return, but I am also concerned about your children’s health as well.

  • Irritability
  • Sadness
  • Fear
  • Nightmares
  • Anxiety
  • Worrying
  • Angry
  • Tantrums
  • Frustration
  • Alcohol Abuse
  • Drug Abuse
  • Isolating
  • Hearing Voices
  • Seeing Things That Are Not There
  • Lack of Concentration
  • Struggle to Stay Focused
  • Talking About Death
  • Suicidal Thoughts and Feelings
  • Harming Pets
  • Being Abusive to Siblings
  • Destructive Behavior
  • Sleep Routine Changes
  • Appetite Changes
  • Loss of Interests and Activities
  • Poor Academic Performance in School

This is a very large list that every child is not going to experience, so to help parents and grandparents I have listed the most serious warning signs that tell you the child is in need of help.

  • Nightmares and sleep routine changes are serious signs something is not right, and this can be sleeping way too much or even not being able to sleep enough.
  • If you start to notice your child seems to be excessively anxious this is another warning for parents and grandparents, and the sooner you get them treatment the better.
  • Alcohol and drug abuse is a sure sign your child is having emotional problems, and this really needs to be addressed as soon as possible.
  • Hearing voices and seeing things can be scary, and they often will not tell their family thinking they might be going crazy.
  • If you notice they are struggling to concentrate and stay focused on their studies or even things they used to enjoy doing it is time to get them to a professional.
  • Anyone of any age who starts to talk about death is possibly going to become suicidal if they don’t get treatment. so this I would say is really the most serious symptom you want to take seriously and seek treatment immediately.

In my own opinion, these are the most severe warning signs for parents and grandparents to watch out for. But if your child is experiencing more than a few of the symptoms on the main list in this article I also would advise you to seek professional guidance.

What Parents Are Saying

How many of you are curious about what the parents and grandparents are saying about how the COVID is affecting their children and grandchildren, I for one am very interested in this topic and I feel it is my duty to share this information with you. Here is a U.S. assessment provided by News Gall Up, so here is what their poll has shown.

How long can you follow social distancing practices and business/school closures before your child’s emotional or mental health suffers?

29% of United States families shared in this study that their children are already experiencing emotional health issues due to being out of social situations such as school. People are not meant to be solitary for the majority of the people, and even loners do some socializing even if it is only when they go out for groceries.

How much of a challenge [has been separated from classmates and teachers] been in terms of remote/distance learning for your [oldest/youngest] child?

45% of the parents with children already experiencing emotional problems share that being separated from their classmates has been a major challenge for their child.

I have only provided you the statistics from parents with children that are already being affected, and you can read all the statistics by visiting their website.

Talking To Children About COVID

COVID In Pennsylvania

The part of Pennsylvania I live in has been very lucky when it comes to this virus, and even though the schools have been closed the children in my neighborhood seem to be doing just fine. The majority of the kids are playing outdoors most days, and even though I don’t agree with their parents the children seem to be happy and doing very well. The virus is becoming more severe where I live as well, but still, the children are out playing like there is nothing wrong. What bothers me, even more, is every time I go to the store for groceries there are people not wearing masks. Even if they don’t feel the masks do any good, I feel they still should wear them to protect the rest of us who are wearing masks as a safety precaution. As everyone knows wearing masks is a very serious issue right now in our country, but I don’t see what harm it does to wear a mask when you go out in public? We just don’t know enough about this to know if they do or don’t make any difference, but I would think parents and grandparents would at least be wearing masks on their children?

Pray for people who are infected with COVID-19

Jesus, during Your ministry on Earth You showed Your power and caring by healing people of all ages and stations of life from physical, mental, and spiritual ailments. Be present now to people who need Your loving touch because of COVID-19. May they feel Your power of healing through the care of doctors and nurses.

Take away the fear, anxiety, and feelings of isolation from people receiving treatment or under quarantine. Give them a sense of purpose in pursuing health and protecting others from exposure to the disease. Protect their families and friends and bring peace to all who love them.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.—Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

Natural Alternatives For Mild Depression

I am one of those people who have had a very negative experience with prescription medications, so I prefer to give natural alternatives a try before giving in to medication. I have been able to manage my mild depression naturally, but some of us might need more than this type of treatment, So what I recommend is you consult with your physician, and just ask him or her what they recommend.

I use St John Wort as needed for when I feel I need something for depression, but I don’t take this every day. You will want to avoid Chamomile if you have an allergy to ragweed, I tried this once, and I had an asthma attack so be very careful taking it. I got this list from the website Ayurvedic Cure, and these were not their entire list so you can visit their website to read their article and get the entire list that they recommend.

Supporting Your Mental Health During School Return

This article is to help your entire family, and as parents and grandparents, you are a high-risk as well as your children when they start back to school again. You should never take any of the natural herbs I share in my articles without consulting your physician, and the reason for this is some of them might interfere if you are on any prescription medications. I do hope if you are in need of any good resource you check out Dial 211, as you have read in my article it does provide families a lot of valuable information.

Activities To Keep Seniors Engaged During COVID 19-Tips For Senior Citizens

Tips For Senior Citizens

I am dedicating this article to my dear sweet mother with activities to keep seniors engaged during COVID 19. and everyone reading this we are in this together and we must focus on working together not be fighting. Our government is providing us a very bad example of how to act during a crisis, but the people of the United States must stick together if we are going to get through this pandemic.

Assistance For Seniors

I would like to begin this article by providing you some organizations that you can receive assistance for seniors, and I feel if you know these exist you can spread the word to your family and friends. If our government would provide more funds to these more of you could be living a better quality of life, so anyway here are some resources you might find useful.

  • American Society of Aging is highly recommended for people in their senior years and their caregivers, so this is the first place I am recommending you consider for assistance.
  • Leadership Council on Aging is the second resource I suggest you consider, you will find this to be one of your best resources to keep handy in case you ever need it.
  • National Association of Area Agencies on Aging is where you want to go for programs in your own community, and they are able to assist seniors within their local area what is available.
  • Senior Living is able to assist you in finding the best housing and care for you in your golden years, you will not only find a source of resources, but you also will find a good source of valuable tools on their website.

The organizations above are the first places I would go myself to get help for my own mother, so I hope the resources I have shared with you can assist you. Free Family Solutions is all about providing assistance resources for families, and the elderly people in our community deserve as much help as we can give them.

COVID 19 Virus Tips

The Golden Years Are Not So Golden

Many of the senior citizens in my community are not living the golden years, and actually, the majority of them are struggling to make ends meet month after month. Pensions are very low if they even have a pension of any kind, and the majority of them are depending on their social security just to get by. I have heard President Trump many times say he wants to get rid of social security, and if he would be re-elected and did this what is going to happen to all these people?

  • It is a fact that the average social security benefit is not enough for people to retire today, and I know many of these people who were working part-time at fast-food restaurants and Walmart just to pay for their medications. But many of you might be mistaken by our government giving you the impression everything is provided for you, and the majority of people also must pay for a supplement health insurance.
  • Many of you might not be aware there are taxes on this type of government income, and I ask you how fair is this to the senior citizens?
  • Thankful the majority of these people just need to claim their income on their income taxes, and the reason is the majority of the blue-collar workers when they retire are not receiving enough social security to be able to pay taxes on their income.
  • The law in the year of 2019 stated an individual receiving this type of income is only allowed to earn an additional $771.00, but really how many of them are healthy enough to work in their golden years?

I just wanted for my mother’s situation to clear this up, so don’t believe the politician’s when they say you don’t pay anything for your medical expenses when on social security. My mother has co-payments on all her medications, and also every medical appointment she has to pay a co-payment as well. The worse part is these are the times in our lives when we have the most health problems, and also how many seniors do you know that does not require any prescription medications?

activities to keep seniors engaged during covid 19
It is about time we protect our senior citizens in this country

Who Are High-Risk For COVID

The majority of the people in my community are senior citizens, and many are struggling with depression over not being able to spend time with their families. With the holidays coming this will be the worse holiday season for many of them, and to make things worse many women like my mother lives alone. So how can my mother and others like her cope during this terrible time, and below I have shared what I could find out for you.

  • The older you are in age the higher your risks are when it comes to COVID, and one of the main reasons for this is your immune system often becomes weaker as you age.
  • Many people older than 50 years old has chronic health issues, so they also are at a higher risk despite they are not in their senior years.
  • Children with health issues are at higher risk as well, so your health status is the main high-risk factor.
  • 8 out of every 10 deaths from this virus on an average are people over 65 years of age, so these people must be more careful than the younger members of their families.

Now you should understand better why our seniors are high-risk during the COVID 19, but how can they reduce their risks is what we are going to discuss next?

How To Reduce Your Risks

Anyone of any age actually needs to be extra careful, so even those of you with autoimmune diseases should be reading this?

  • President Trump is misleading the people in so many ways about the COVID, and people who wear a mask are not more of a risk to get infected as he has been saying. Everyone should be wearing a mask, and if more of us did we would not have nearly as many deaths from this virus.
  • When you must go out try to stay at least 6 feet from other people, and also you should avoid going out only when you have no other choice such as medical appointments and grocery shopping.
  • This is very important for everyone to do no matter your age, and anyone who starts to feel unhealthy should seek professional medical treatment right away.
  • The sooner you have been treated the better your chances of surviving, so the longer you wait the higher your risk of having complications.
  • Washing your hands frequently and using hand sanitizer is highly recommended, and this is even more important for those of you over 65 years old or with health problems.

I am sure you all are tired of hearing these basic ways of how to reduce your risks, but sadly not nearly enough people are following them and that is the main reason we are in this situation for the holidays.

How Do I Know I Am Infected

Most of you might already be aware of the symptoms, but for those of you who might not know below are what to watch for. If you start having any of these symptoms you need to seek medical treatment right away, so it is better to be safe than sorry and wait too long to be treated?

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Coughing
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle Pain
  • Headache
  • Loss of Taste
  • Sore Throat
  • Congestion
  • Runny Nose
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

These are not all of the symptoms you possibly might experience, but these are the most common early symptoms the majority of the people are experiencing.

activities to keep seniors engaged during covid 19
We are all in this together, so be ready to help your neighbors when you can

Time To Seek Medical Treatment

If you are experiencing more than a few of the symptoms above you should consider seeking medical treatment, and the symptoms below are sure signs you are in need of medical treatment right now.

  • Struggling to breath is one of the sure signs you need help, so don’t waste any time if you start to feel you are having trouble breathing.
  • Chest pain or the feeling of constant pressure in your chest is another sure sign to go to the emergency room, and men don’t wait or it might be too late for them to save your life.
  • Some people especially seniors are experiencing the feeling of being confused, so this is especially important if you are in your golden years.
  • If you are finding yourself struggling to stay awake or wake up, you need to get medical assistance.
  • The last warning sign I have for you in this article is if you notice your lips are looking a bit on the bluish side, and this also might go for your face as well.

Now you have a good understanding of the COVID-19 virus, and I feel this information could possibly save some lives. Now we need to address some activities to keep seniors engaged during the COVID 19, so read on to learn more.

Activities To Keep Seniors Engaged During COVID 19

Many seniors like my mother live alone since my father passed away, so for her and others in the same situation, this could get the best of them from worrying about their family. The best way for them not to worry to the extent it affects their health is to stay busy, and so now let us see what are some activities that are recommended?

  • One good thing is many seniors are using the internet today, so this is more likely their best resource for keeping their minds busy during this time. So the most popular way the majority of people entertain themselves online is on the website we all know as Facebook, and my mother who never used this site before now is going on it regularly. This is a great option for her to keep in touch with my brothers and my nephews, and this is the number one option recommended by Home Care Assistance.
  • Their next option in the article suggests a website that goes by the name of Facetime, and this is a video and audio calling service. I am not familiar with this site, but you can learn more from this article written by Digital Trends.
  • Even though my mother is not into using email, you can be sure this is another good option to keep in touch with your family.
  • Just by surfing the web or shopping online can provide activities to keep seniors engaged during COVID 19, and so next we are going to venture into games that are good for seniors.

Many seniors use coupons to save them money, so by using the internet some of them spend their time searching for them for their favorite stores. So this is another way to spend your time while staying at home, and below I have inserted a link for you for coupons from Walmart.

Games For Seniors During COVID

Many people of these ages worrying quite a bit about their family, and one very good choice of how to spend their time is playing games. The best games for seniors are what they consider brain games, so these are what I am sharing with you below.

  • Crossword puzzles are something I do when I am in the mood, and I find this relaxing as well as improves my brain functioning. So you can find a variety of crossword puzzles to choose from, I always like the large print and that is what I recommend for seniors.
  • For those who are not a fan of these as I am, you also will find that the Word Search is a favorite of many people in their senior years.
  • Reading is very popular among the older folks, and many of them just never had the time to read when they were working. So many of them now read regularly, and this is great for their brain health.
  • If they live alone Solitaire is another good choice to consider, I am not really into card games myself, but many people are now playing this online instead of with playing cards as in the past.
  • There are many of these games to choose from for senior couples to play, but the list does become quite smaller for someone who lives alone.
  • My last suggestion for a single person would be jigsaw puzzles, I know many nursing homes provide these in their main room for the residents to give them something to do.

So these are what I could think of for a single person who is staying at home during the COVID, and of course, many seniors are very attached to their television for entertainment. The only negative thing about this is it can contribute to their worrying, and the reason is that for some reason many favors watching the news.

Games For Senior Couples

Now I am going to give you a few activities to keep seniors engaged during COVID 19 for couples, and there are many more choices depending on your interests when you have a partner.

  • Chess is my favorite game, but since I live alone I have no one to play against. You can find online chess websites, so this could possibly be an option even for a single person. If you have a partner who loves the game, you can spend hours every day playing this game with them.
  • Many women are not into chess it seems, so maybe checkers would be a better choice if that is the case?
  • Monopoly was my favorite board game growing up, and this game can keep you busy for hours and hours playing.
  • How about Yahtzee, you could really put in some of your time playing this one as well with a partner, I guess you could play alone but it would not be as nearly as much fun.
  • You could also consider Scrabble with your partner, so this is another good one that comes to my mind.

I am going to end this article here, but I hope I have provided you some good resources as well as some interesting activities. Living alone I know how it could affect your mental health, but the more variety you can add to your life the better your mental health will be during this stressful time. Please feel free to leave me any comments at the end of this article, I would love to hear from you.

5 Tips To Help You Stay Healthy This Winter-COVID Virus Family Tips

COVID Winter 2020

This winter could take the lives of more people than any year most of us have experienced and is going to be mainly from the COVID worldwide virus. So 5 tips to help you stay healthy this winter is going to provide families with the best family health information to stay healthy.

Corona Virus Winter Tips

The first tips I am going to share with you were provided by the website Deseret, and this website is a reliable resource according to my domain authority checker tool. So let us see what they have to say about taking care of ourselves this winter during the COVID virus?

  • Even though I have an autoimmune disease I never do their first suggestion, and I am not planning on doing it this year. So they recommend everyone get a flu shot, and I have not received a flu shot for the past 10 years. The last time I got the flu shot, I actually got sick, and I have not been sick the past ten years without getting the injection. I am not telling you not to get this injection, I am just sharing my own experience with you. I am just not comfortable putting these into my own body, but you should consult your physician if you have any concerns.
  • The next one they recommend I strongly agree with, and I do it year-round to stay healthy, and exercise regularly is what they recommend. Even though it does not really matter the type of exercise, I strongly encourage you to choose something that you really enjoy doing. I walk with my dog twice every day, and this is something we both look forward to doing together. I am lucky that there is a nature trail within walking distance of my home, but most of you are more likely not as lucky?
  • The most challenging for many people are socializing, and with the COVID we must be more careful about how we socialize than in the past. I usually talk via phone with my mother regularly, so this is one option for you to consider as well. With the internet you have other options, you can use social media to keep in touch with your family and friends. I am not into online chatting, but this is another option to consider if this is your thing.
  • Reconnecting with friends is their next suggestion, but this more likely should not be done in person. You can do this again by reconnecting on social media and using online chatlines, and due to our situation online and via phone are your best strategies.
  • Working from home is what many of us are doing today, so you might want to make your working area as comfortable as you possibly can.

So according to Deseret you now know their 5 tips to help you stay healthy this winter, so let us see how to cope during the COVID in my next paragraph.

5 tips to help you stay healthy this winter
Winter during the COVID this year is going to be challenging for many families

How To Cope During COVID

It has been extremely difficult for the majority of the people to cope during the COVID so far, but it is even more challenging for everyone to deal effectively when we must remain indoors most of the time. So let us see what Global News has to share with us, we all need all the help we can get to manage the situation when winter arrives?

  • Global News suggests what I shared with you above, and that is to take advantage of using online chat to keep in touch with your family.
  • The article also states that phone conversations are a much better choice than emailing and texting, so instead of texting with your phone try using it the old fashion way by calling a friend or family member.
  • Another important thing to remember is you need to have a good support system according to this article, and I know from my own experience how important this is for my own health. I am not fortunate enough to have a good support system, so I only have my mother to keep in touch with regularly.
  • How are we going to celebrate the upcoming holidays is a good question, so how many families are going to get together in large groups indoors despite this is a very bad idea? Instead, you should have small family get-togethers to be safe.

COVID has disrupted the lives of families worldwide, and there does seem to be a higher risk when winter arrives. Actually, the health experts are predicting it to be even worse than in the spring and summer months. There are some reports that depression might be higher this year than other years, so how does someone get support if they start experiencing severe depression and possibly even suicidal thoughts and feelings?

Winter Mental Health Triggers

The best way to stay healthy physically and mentally is to understand what the triggers are,  and this year it is predicted to be much worse with COVID added to our winter triggers. So what is going to contribute to people being more depressed, and I have provided what the experts are saying below.

  • The colder the weather the worse it could be, so if you have a mild winter spend as much time outdoors as you can. Spending too much of your time indoors is the number one trigger for the majority of the people, so even taking short walks every day can do wonders for your mood and health.
  • Socialization or the lack of it is going to be a major trigger this year, so you have to find ways to socialize besides in person. Online is the most convenient method for many people, so if you have a computer or a smartphone socialize this way.
  • Try talking more on the phone to your family and friends, I know many of us text today instead of communicating the old fashion way.
  • Actually, the majority of people experience holiday stress after the holidays. So you need to prepare for after the holiday stress by making a good plan to stay busy, and for families, this is much easier than for someone who lives alone.
  • Adopting a pet could be just what you need to stay healthy during the COVID winter of 2020, you might not be aware of how having a pet companion can make such a dramatic difference in your life. I would feel so lonely if it was not for my Miniature Australian Shepherd, and he does keep me busy by walking and playing with him.

Now is the time to start making a plan for winter, and adding a schedule of family activities is one of your best strategies you could have.

Natural Ways To Stay Healthy This Winter-How To Stay Healthy

The summer is sadly over for another year, and now it is time for us to prepare our bodies with natural ways to stay healthy this winter, so you are going to find what works for me and what the experts have to say. With the COVID virus and the flu season, this might be the most important article I have written for you yet? Let us start with my own strategies, and then we will see what others have to share with us?

How I Change My Diet For Winter?

Once the weather starts to become cooler I have had good success by substituting my summer salads with my home-made soup recipes. Before I go any farther, I wish to share with you what are some of the most important benefits of eating soup this time of the year?

  • Vegetables are full of nutrients that naturally improve your immune system, and a strong immune system is our main goal to stay healthy during the cold winters.
  • This is also a great choice to maintain your weight as many of us are less active this time of the year, so you can put a whole lot of soup into your body without gaining a bunch of extra weight.
  • Believe it or not, this is extremely satisfying to your body. Since it contains so much broth it also contains fewer calories, and I find with healthy recipes I rarely experience the flu or colds as many others do.
  • One other reason I love this is they are so easy and convenient to prepare, you just add your favorite vegetables and meat with water. I recommend you purchase a nice size slow cooker, and fill it up with your own home-made soup and freeze some for another day.

So this is my first step to natural ways to stay healthy during this winter, and below I have inserted a link for you with some healthy low-calorie soup recipes.

You need as many of these as you can put into your body for a healthy immune system, and with the COVID at its most severity this time of the year I suggest you try to eat as many as you can.

I must admit I have never been able to go entirely vegetarian or vegan, but I have really tried over and over again. My problem is I just feel I am missing nutrients my body gets from meat, and I just have never been able to solve the mystery of what alternative will provide my body’s needs?

Natural Sleep Tips

Now that you understand the importance of what you put into your body, we now need to learn natural ways to improve your sleep. The majority of people of all ages complain more about their quality of sleep than anything else, so what can we do to improve our sleep is our next goal to work on.

  • Anxiety, stress, and low blood sugar levels are the most common reasons for the majority of sleep problems, and I am no stranger to this myself. In the past, I was lucky if I got 3 hours of sleep before waking up. So a good before-bed snack to give a try is a banana rolled in Himalayan salt, and I also eat a handful of cashews as well.
  • Another sleep problem I had myself was pain from my autoimmune disease, and I just recently read to replace your caffeine with Golden Milk. So this is something you could try yourself if you are a big caffeine addict, I have not tried this myself yet.
  • They say if you drink 8 ounces of tart cherry juice before bed, you will sleep better. Tart cherry juice is claimed to help your body produce more melatonin naturally, so this is another natural sleep tip you can try.
  • Supplements have helped many people able to sleep better, and I have found that Luden’s Melatonin Smoothers relaxes me and helps me fall asleep and able to sleep longer.

So these are some natural sleep tips I urge you to give a try, and I really feel relaxed very quickly when I use the Luden’s Melatonin Smoothers. So this is something that works for me I suggest you give a try, and I would love to hear if they help you sleep better. You can leave me a comment at the end of this article, and I would love to hear from some of you who read natural ways to stay healthy this winter.

What Else Can You Do?

There are many options you can experiment with this winter, you could start doing yoga online by going to YouTube. You can learn just about anything your heart desires on this website, and in fact, I  learned many of the things I am sharing with you in my articles on my website from watching these videos. Below are some things I have tried, and some things I have not tried. You can try any of them to see how they work for you, and trial and error is the only way to find out which works and which ones don’t.

  • Herbal teas are a very good option to try, I am a big herbal tea drinker and these are caffeine-free. I would prefer to drink these beverages hot or cold over the golden milk, but both of these are good choices if they interest you?
  • What about warm apple cider, I have heard sipping this beverage in the evening before bed works for some people?
  • I also find listening to audiobooks to be relaxing for me, but if this does not appeal to you, why not listen to some relaxing music instead?
  • I walk twice per day which really has been a benefit for me, and my Miniature Australian Shepherd keeps me motivated to walk twice every day.
  • Would starting your own blog be something that appeals to you, and if so winter is a great time to start a new hobby. If anyone is interested I am more than willing to help you get started, you just have to leave me a comment so we can get started.

Best Herbal Teas For Your Immune System

Since  I do prefer drinking herbal teas over caffeine beverages, I do happen to know a little about which teas are the best to boost your immune system. So I decided this is important enough to share in this article, and for anyone interested, this will help you choose the best herbal teas for your immune system.

  • Chamomile, but this tea is in the ragweed family so if you have an allergy to ragweed avoid this herbal tea.
  • Green Tea
  • Ginseng
  • Elderberry
  • Licorice

I am allergic to ragweed so Chamomile tea is not an option for me, and the two herbal teas I drink the most are Ginseng and Elderberry. These are good options to start with, and they are natural immune boosters you can trust with your health.

Top Immune Supplement Brands

I am no expert on supplements, so I got this list of the best immune supplement brands for you on the website Consumer Health Organization. So here is what they recommend to be your best choices for 2020, but I want you to know you should consult your physician and have them check your vitamin levels before taking any supplements on your own. Too much can be just as dangerous to your health as being deficient, so be careful about taking any supplements without consulting your physician first.

  • Pure Nature Immunity Complex
  • Immune Protect
  • Now Immune Renew

I am on quite a few supplements because of my autoimmune diseases, but I always consult my physician before adding any new supplements. Even though these can be a dramatic impact on your health, you can also harm yourself by taking them without checking first with your physician.

Best Exercise For Your Immune System

Maybe you are confused as I was about what exercise is the best for you to be doing, and if you happen to have pre-existing health conditions such as me with autoimmune diseases it is even more difficult. So let us see what the Aleteia Organization has to say about this, so read on to learn more.

  • More is not always better, I struggled when first diagnosed with autoimmune disease to exercise. I was stubborn and thought the more I pushed myself the better I would be, but as they are saying pushing yourself often can be worse for you. So you should avoid long strenuous exercise according to this organization, so let us see what else they have to say?
  • Instead of the long strenuous exercise, they recommend short high-intensity exercise instead.
  • It does not matter what type of exercise you choose to do, so I suggest you go for something that you enjoy. I walk with my Miniature Australian Shepherd twice per day, and this seems to be enough for me to stay healthy.
  • You should choose something you can do outdoors, and one of the reasons is the benefit of vitamin D. This natural vitamin from the sun is very important when it comes to the COVID virus, and this is from this organization recommending the information in this section.
  • They end their article by suggesting you choose something you enjoy, and one of their recommendations is using YouTube videos outdoors. So you could give yoga a try, and maybe you don’t like to exercise but you have a passion for dancing? Zumba was one of the recommendations in their article for people who love to dance, so to read this entire article use the link below.
